Well, I dunno a way to get bun curls without hurting your hair. My mom has bun curls and her hair looks dryer than before. Face it, forcing it to curl just hurts your hair. But on Mileyworld, Miley personally gave us this tip: Get a spray bottle, fill it with water and sea salt, then spray it into your hair, scrunch it up and let it air dry, then in a couple hours, your hair will have beautiful beach waves.

buns and curls are 2 different things, the advice about the sock it dead on, and that will produce a great bun, if you want some curls around your face or little tendrils cascading in the back, take out a quarter inch section and use a small curling iron, wrap them in a spiral manner, hold for a minute or two, after to release the hair spray it immediately with hair spray

you should cut the tip of some socks and role them up to have a hole in the middle so it looks like a donut, depending on how long your hair is. your hair should be moisturized. put your hair in one and pull the loose hair through the bun and role your hair over the bun. put something in to hold your hair and your done.

Scrunching should work if you put mousse on beforehand and then blowdry your hair while you are scrunching. A little hairspray never hurt either! If that doesn't work then a perm might be the answer.
