for those who say Atheists can't know right from wrong , or that they have no morals because morals are given by God...
can I ask you to think for a moment
Imagine that tomorrow you wake up and for whatever reason disbelieved in God
just be hypothetical for a moment
would you then go out and kill everyone you didn't like ?
steal things because you simply didnt want to or couldnt afford to pay for what you wanted ?
why or why not ?
this morning I have seen more than enough questions that suggest this is how some of you think Atheists behave
and to be honest ... it is frightening

As a Christian Pastor I have talked with many that have made the choice not to believe in God and Jesus Christ.
I must however admit that often times these people were better parents and better moral people than some of those in Church every Sunday.
I may not agree with your decision, I would however be seriously remiss if I didn't recognize the contributions that have been made to society by atheists.

First off I don't believe that people who come to the belief that there is no God "can't know right from wrong".
To answer your question, no, because I was born with a conscience to know right from wrong. God gave us our conscience so we would know when we break His Law; the guilt we feel when we are doing something wrong tells us that we need to repent. See (Romans 2:15). Even the nonbelievers have one, they were born with it. A conscience can be a reliable guide, however, only if it is a good conscience. The Scriptures, on the other hand, speaks of some who have a “weak conscience” (IÂ Corinthians 8:7,10,12), which may become a “defiled conscience” (Titus 1:15) and eventually a “seared conscience” (IÂ Timothy 4:2) or even an “evil conscience” (Hebrews 10:22).
If used properly, however, the conscience is a blessing. God has given us a conscience to help guide us. The question is, what makes a conscience “good?” There are two references in Scripture to a “pure conscience” (IÂ Timothy 3:9; IIÂ Timothy 1:3) and six to a “good conscience” (Acts 23:1; IÂ Timothy 1:5,19; Hebrews 13:18; IÂ Peter 3:16,21), but none of these tell how such a conscience is acquired.
The answer to this vital question appears to be found in the Apostle Paul’s testimony before Felix: “And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offense toward God, and toward men” (Acts 24:16). The “exercise” (literally ‘training’) which had produced such a conscience in Paul, he said, was this: “So worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets” (Acts 24:14). A lifelong study of the Scriptures, accompanied by absolute faith in their veracity and authority, had produced in Paul a strong, pure, good, reliable conscience, and it will do the same for us.

Just because a person has no religion doesn't necessarily mean they don't know right from wrong or have no morals. I'm an aethiest but I would never steal or hurt anyone because I was brought up to behave like a decent human being. My parents are also aethiests and have never preached any religion to me or my brother and we have both grown up to be decent law-abiding citizens.
Its shocking to think that some people believe knowing right from wrong can only come from having a faith. We have morals because we want to be good people. As I said my parents are not religious but we were brought up with strong family values and I will carry them with me forever.
I believe religion and morals don't necessarily go hand in hand, its your personality and/or up-bringing that depend on whether or not you are a good/bad person.

Hypocritical (prejudgemental) or hypothetical ??
I've yet to see any Atheist just decided to do & kill All Believers ( unless some Mental Illness was involved )
Have to wonder just where do you get such a negative image of them. What's next? Attack us Pagans because of all the wrong & negative images there are out there??

I'm not an atheist but it makes me think, If they think that atheists can't be good because they don't believe in God,,,, Then It's safe to assume that they are just being good because of God, I think about this alot. Are they truly good people inside if there only good because of something else and not for themselves,,, I know alot of people are,,, but for the people who don't understand why atheists are good makes it seem that way, and all it does it make a better argument for atheists. I do believe in God and I think I am a good person, for myself and the other people around me,,,,, this is like them saying,,, I'm only Good because God says I have to. Sorry this was more of a vent.

Yes, anyone who believes that atheists cannot have morals has definately been brainwashed...
My grandmother is one of the most moral people I know, and she is an avowed atheist...
Something to ponder over:
“Some help others in order to receive blessings and admiration. This is simply meaningless. Some cultivate themselves in part to serve others, in part to serve their own pride. They will understand, at best, half of the truth. But those who improve themselves for the sake of the world -- to these, the whole truth of the universe will be revealed”

It's funny isn't it? Lets face it, most of the horrors on Earth are perpetrated by people who believe they act in the name of their God. Even George Bush says God told him to invade Iraq!
I'm not sure whether or not I believe in God. I don't like narrow-minded religion which doesn't allow others to make their own choices in life, but whether or not there is a mightier being floating around just out of sight, well, we will never really know.

Hi !
I have often wondered (even when I was following the Christian religion) what would happen if organized religion simply disappeared. The world would be tossed into utter chaos, and I would hide because the fundies would be after me out of anger at being right.
have a nice rest of the weekend

Devoted people are crazy and will hurt anyone who gets in the way of their fantasies. Besides they have the devil as an enemy but they need something tangible, something you can throw rocks at. After all, those without sin can cast the first stone and believe me the righteous are hurling boulders.

As a Christian I have never said Atheists have no morals. Morals are taught to a person. There are as many Atheists with morals as there are Christians with morals. I have seen so called Christians that have no morals. As Christians we should have a high standard of morals but many do not. As for the so called Christians who have judged that all Atheist have no morals are wrong. They have no right to judge you like that. It is wrong and not what a true Christian is taught.
