This may not be a problem with your TV set....

It sounds like ghosting to me...and ghosting only occurs with Analog TV signals. It's caused by the TV channel bouncing up against other buildings or lines of trees...you can twist the antenna to another direction to see if you lock into a "ghostless" signal but I wouldn't bet the farm on it....

Now if your tuner can do stations that show a dash or decimal number, THOSE are digital and noise free and NO GHOSTING ! And if you ARE watching those channel numbers and they HAVE the imprints....BOY DO YOU HAVE A PROBLEM! And that problem can only be fixed by a TV repairman....

I am hoping you see these only on channels that DON'T have decimals or dashes in the channel number....

the problem you refer to is called "ghosting"-which is usually down to a reception or tuning problem. go round all the cables and junctions relating to ariel and cable boxes-make sure there are no frayed or broken cables. if all is okay then it will be a tuning issue-check the socket at the back of the set to see if anything is amiss here. play a DVD or games console through the AV inputs and see if it happens there. either way i don't think a TV replacement is neccesary-if it is internal then it should be a reasonably easy (and cheap) task for a techie to sort out.
