ive never had one before, but i want quite a large design on my back, based on my great uncles art. i'm wondering how long i should sleep on it before deciding to go ahead and get it done.

it's different for everybody. because it is art that is connected to you i personally wouldn't need as long to think on it. out of the three tattoos that i have gotten since 2006 the first and largest i thought about for four years before getting. most of the waiting was just finding the right artist to do it. the second that i got i thought about for close to three years, it was a memorial tattoo and i wanted it to be just right. the third tattoo that i got i only thought about for about 6 months and i have no regrets but it also has deep familial ties so it wasn't something that was meaningless and whimsical.

you'll know when it's right for you to get your tattoo just be patient and make sure that you have found the right artist to do the work.

Usually a design just kind of strikes me as something that I truly want on my body forever. I think live with the idea of the design for at least 3-6 months before I get it to make sure that I continue to feel strongly about it. I only broke this rule once, and though I still like the tattoo from that situation, I do wish I had followed my own rule! - Say

u would need to think about this hard and long and make sure it's not a rash decision since a tattoo of that size is definitely gonna take a few days as it has to be completed in sections for it to be fully done and not to mention the pain and soreness added to it....the whole thing with tattoos is that its permanent so do u want to go thru all the pain and living with that big of design on ur back? if ya then go for it!

personally i think if you hae any doubts atall which it sounds like to me
then dont get it done yet

wait until you dont need to ask this sort of question, that way you know you are a hundred percent sure

i have a couple of large tattoos but i never had to ask this, because i was sure

it is not like getting a piercing, once you go for it thats it no turning back

enjoy your tattoo experience, dont worry, if you are worried it is the wrong idea at the moment

best wishes

Wait until you are 100% sure that you want this on you for the rest of your life. I spent a year & a half thinking about a rather small design on my back and I couldn't be happier that I did.

*I think that if you choose a final design and love it for a year straight and without doubt that you should get one. Tattoos are permanent obviously lol, && they should be really thought out, ya know? But tattoos are gorgeous; so regardless I'm sure you'll look great either way :P*

If you are old enough and the work has meaning to you why wait. It does not hurt that bad and if you dont have the money for all of it get it done in pieces. If you know for sure what you want go for it.

well, it's up to you... I've gotten tattooed after thinking about a design for years, and I've also gotten them thinking on a design for 5 minutes... it really depends on how serious you are... show it to a tattoo artist, see what they think, get a quote on the price, and then make your decision... good luck...

each person is different..I took about three months after I found the one I wanted..I figure if I still liked it after a certain amount of time..I would like it for a lot longer than that.

unless u sure dont get it. start out small like a letter on your forearm or a small barbed wire line on your upper arm. if you dont want it then get it lasered off or just cover it up. what do u want on your back, y the way?
