I used to run 100 meters for my school and I used to train a few times a week. I have not run in 6 years and I have not been to the gym in about 3 years.

I want to get back into running, but right now i am really unfit, I run out of breath just putting on clothes to go out... I am 5'10 204lbs.

I have my old running shoes in good condition. How should i trian to get back into running? I have access to a treadmill at the gym, I tried to run last week, I didn't last 3 minutes...

What kind of routine should i set up for myself? I want to be able to run at least 2 km regularly within 6 months...

well first things first. realistically dont expect to run the 2km with ease. dont start out too hard because it will do nothing but harm your own body. these things take time for your body to adjust. start out slow with long walks to jogging. 2minutes jog, 1minute walking. repeat this for 30minutes a day. every day this task will become easier as your body is finding its form. when the jogging feels comfortable you can decide for yourself to run longer distances. ex: run 5min walk 1minute.

and take care.

Yes. It was exactly 6 years. And this past summer we bumped into each other for the first time. For the first month it seemed like that was it. We found each other. Life is good. We should have never broke up. I love you. Blah blah blah. Then I realized how much I hated him. Realized he didn't really mentally grow up in any way shape or form. realized he was an egotistical ahole who lacked insane amounts of depth. I told him it wouldn't work out about 2 minutes after the first (and last) time we had sex again. He was just way too lousy and I can't be having that along with his other faults. If he were good in bed I could have held out a little longer. We kept talking. We kept hanging out and going to bars together, but I got sick of hearing what a whore I am just because I didn't want him. Sick of hearing that I know nothing about people because I didn't think of him as a "Great Guitar God" like the rest of the town did. I could not be his "yes" woman. I hate him now. Yet we still talk on IM occasionally. Glutton for punishment.

Change your lifestyle and do this forever. STOP SMOKING. Drink lots of water, then walk an hour every day except 1 then do stretching and upper body toning. After 1 week add in slowly minutes of jogging, starting with 1. Eat fruits & vegetables.

No alcohol
no bread
no burgers
No candy
No chips
no corn
no fried foods
No pasta
No pizza
No potatoes
No sodas
No sugar

After you've shed a few pounds then you can seriously consider jogging for longer periods.

Good Luck

well...to start of just try a 1K run on flat roads and see how completable that feels, make sure you don't go to quick so you know you are compiable with the distance. if that feels ok then slowly and time go on speed up a little and make the courses more challageing but don't feel to configdent and slowly make progress. make sure you get the right shoes. I surgest Asics.

look at the link below that should help

Well dude, ease yourself into that, man. Wake up and do some exercises for a set amount of time. Only you know what your limit is. From then on, keep increasing the amount of whatever you do and how many of whatever you do. You'll eventually start getting fitter to start running again.

if you could quit smoking that would help a great deal. i suggest starting out on the elliptical for a few weeks. if you do have have access to one start on the treadmill but take it easy. 3 mins is not bad the goal is to get better everytime you train.as long as you increase your time it doesnt matter.

First off do one thing before even thinking about running, QUIT SMOKING you are going to be required to use more lung power when running. Unless you quit smoking, getting back into shape is not going to work.
