There are plenty of methods, and they work. It is just a matter of using them:

Sometimes it is just a matter of your vote.
Don't know what this is about?
Ask **** Cheney. Or, even better, George W. Bush.

1. When any asset is inherited from parents to children, increase the stamp duty to 40% of the asset value.
Most of the corrupted people don't need that much money. They just invest in different assets to give it to their children. Let the children stand on their own feet. Once parents realize that they are earning extra money which will be wasted (cannot be given to the next generation), corruption will be reduced.
2. There was a program on BBC sometime back. There was a survey to measure the happiness level in different countries. They found that it was quite high in Bhutan as compared to advanced countries. Reason was people are not that bothered about the economy growth. People are content with what they have. They don't know what exists that they dont have. India is progressing. The number of people below poverty line is reducing. It is a good news indeed. At the same time many people are upgrading themselves to upper middle class. People are getting bombarded with different advertisements. Their greed is increasing. They see somthing on the TV and want to buy it. If you want economy growth, progress of India, these things are inevitable. So people tend to earn money in any way. You can say that it is 'side effect of India's economic growth'. The only solution can be 'meditaion. It may seem little funny. But people need to get self control.
3. Change the tax system. India's rich people are getting richer and poor people are getting poorer. Now change in tax system does not mean increasing tax rates. Generally that's what happens. Find out ways so that maximum people will pay taxes. When there is wealth distribution (due to taxes), corruption will reduce.
I remember in the first budget our finance minister Chidambaram tried to get a clause. He wanted people to pay tax if they withdraw more than 10k cash. That was a very good initiative. Only thing is the limit should have been 50k.

Corruption is a diseas, uncurable in some people. But its spread over now so much that stopping it would take a long time.
But mutual effort of everyone can bring down the corruption. Thats the only way out there I see. But then the question raise....are we all together first of all ?

Refuse to be corrupted whatever be the consequences...The disease lies in the entire system...Report any irregularity , wherever u feel it might lead to punishment...We have to collectively flush the corruption out of the system...We have to shed our * chalta hai attitude * .
A strong community can do wonders...Just look at the collective will of the people..The judgement on the Jessica Lal case , Nitish Katara case etc. If we collectively make up our mind & expose a few of such more scandals, People get frightened only if they know, they can t get away with it , like they used to in the past

Where ther is a mind , there is a way. If we povide for very sever punishmen for corrupion, corrution can be totally eleiminated .but in this copuntruy,it is not possible .because the power top p[rovide for the punishmetns , the power to enact the needed law is in the hands o he worst corrupt people , the foutainhesad ofd corrution. How can we expect the thieves to punish themselves ?as we saw in the TVs ecently some senior level official in china was awarded deah entence for corruption.if we provide for such a punishments , many chief Ministers , ministers ., MLAs and MPS will have to be hanged. But it will result in one good thing for the cpountry.corrution will e totally eleminated and it will also wean out and weed out the rogues in politics and proived a vry good disincentie for fraudulent characters to enter politics .Who will bell the cats ?will the cats bell themselves ? Never .

Corruption refers to offering of bribe to get things done the way one wants!
As long as selfishness remains superior corruption would flourish. The Holy Quran prohibits corruption. So also if all other religions also taboo it,then people would avoid doing a morally wrong act.
Hence, religious leaders, social leaders, press, public and youth of the nation take it into their head to staop it, it could be driven away.
