It has been banned, but some people do still practise it illegally in protest. Others practise drag-hunting as a legal option. There have been a whole lot of problems, because people have claimed that fox numbers will rise, and also a whole lot of hounds have had to be killed because they can't be kept otherwise. I don't know whether the number of foxes has actually gone up, however. Fox-hunting obviously isn;t the only way to deal with them, anyway.

The Hunting Act 2004 [UK] was designed to outlaw hunting with dogs (particularly fox hunting, but also the hunting of deer, hares and mink and organised hare coursing) in England and Wales. It came into force in February 2005. It has been repeatedly challenged in court but many hunts are now complying with the law. By the way as far as I know there are over 190 hunting dog packs in the USA. I haven't seen any reliables figures as to the possible increase in the number of foxes due to this legislation.
