I would not seriously say that. I might say it if I was in a bad mood, but only as an insult.
The problem is that even intelligent people can fall under the spell of an irrational belief system. When that belief system includes the internalization of a method of thought control like the Satan Tempter Deceiver to be guarded against it is very hard to get out of. The Satan function in Christianity serves as an internal form of Thought Police. You end up using your own mind to deny yourself the right to think or examine ideas that challenge your religion/cult indoctrination.

Mathew ^ is arguing Pascal's Wager. You should look it up to see why it is actually a really poor theological argument. Pascal used it to demonstrate a point in decision theory. Using it actually means you are an agnostic, which is a form of atheism.

No but they are very closed minded to things that are real. They often push themselves on others and make other people uncomfortable. Everyone is intitled to their beliefs but being Christain is no sign of superiority but most christain do come across that way they know all the answers even though the explaination are downright silly at times. The word may not be stupid it may very well be ignorance because they never search for real facts or real thruth they just took some other christains word and that is awful closminded I think.

honestly....yes...because they believe in something that has no support or evidence for it. Then they turn around and say evolution is ONLY a scientific theory. It is like believing in zeus.
but it really isn't entirely their fault, they have been raised that way since a very young age, and it is VERY hard to break out of that way of thinking. So, not really their fault.

Deluded, certainly. I for one can't understand how people really believe it, there's no reason to.
"Heaven & Hell is real. if we christians are faking, u dont lose nothing we dont lose nothing. but what we say is true, every non believer is in trouble!" says Matthew further down the page, thereby admitting that he only believes in God to try and get into Heaven, and that the promise of an afterlife is the reason we still have religion today.

Stupid? No. There are myriad reasons for believing. To me, those reasons aren't acceptable, but they aren't neccesarily indicators of intelligence.

Yes and no, as a psychology student I know how powerful brainwashing can be, especially in infancy, and often people see God as a good crutch to have when times are hard. Now, I'd of course leave religion alone were it not for all the negative effects of religion.

I don't think any religious folks are stupid, per se - they are just people who haven't yet thought things through, and come to the correct conclusion. Education is the key.
