We are trying to decide whether to tour the less-traveled Beara Peninsula or the Ring of Kerry. My thought is that since it is off-season, the Ring of Kerry might not be so overrun with tour buses/tourists.

Hello Richard,
You have chosen a lovely place to visit, and at the right time of the year too. but the 'ring' will still have its tourists on it, but not anywhere near as many as right now, and although the nights will be drawing in, you will still be able to complete a lap in good time to see and do all that you would expect to do in a run round it, you can always do the Baera Penn. on the Tuesday, which is another nice place to be...
Why not try Connemara next Summer, and keep a look out for me in Galway, rthat's me sat on a rock outside Eyer Square Garden, next to the Kennedy Monument, the Rock is a big one, and there's enough room to have your picture taken sat next to me, then you can take my image home with you and I will sit next to you at home for ever, and if anyone ever asks, " Who is that yoke?" you can tell them, a man of stone who invited me to sit a while and have a rest and a chat..Enjoy your tours Richard.. Oh I enjoyed answering this query for you... Slainte', Tony M...

It shouldn't be too bad at that time; peak months are June July and August. We go off-season, usually February or October, and it's fine. You still get tour buses, but nothing like numbers in the summer. You can get into places without queueing. You can do the Ring in a day, which might leave you enough time to do part of the Beara peninsula too. The only thing is, it only whets your appetite; I always want to come back for more!

hi, not sure about how much traffic will be on it but the coach tours must all go one way around ring of kerry and i cant remember if it's clockwise or anti-clockwise. i will let you know and then you can decide whether you want to meet them all or get stuck behind them.

It should be fine as it's not peak season, you will always get a few late buses about but it won't be overrun with people.

It's very unlikely to be busy at that time of the year, especially if it's midweek.
