Of today is this a joke?

Is this a question or just a 'dig' at authority?

Try looking to the government policies and red tape to see why the Police of today perhaps aren't as effective as they could be. Alternatively you could do some research to see what we actually do on a day to day basis and then make a more informed judgement.

And your question would be....??????

Of course the police aren't a joke. The government however may be. They are the ones who bog us down in red tape and prevent us giving the service that we'd like to give.

We do come under criticism from time to time. some deservedly so and some not so. I've recently had dealings on two incidents where there was subsequent press coverage. Neither of the press reports were accurate. In fact the offender on one told downright lies which were simply printed. I felt like ringing the paper and giving them the real version but then I would have been discipilined by my own force. In the meantime members of the public were reading the papers and believing what was printed.

Don't believe everything you read in the press, and likewise everything you hear. Some maybe true and others not so. If you want to get an insight into the police join the Special Contabulary for a year, then come back and see if you feel the same.

Of course it isn't,Have you been abroad or traveled around the world a bit,I have and I've seen some right shambles and most of them are armed, some of those police forces are more dangerous than the baddies.
Everyone seems to be getting on the "our police are crap" bandwagon when most haven't seen anything to compare it with.
And as far as the "we think they should all be armed"idiots are concerned then these people don't realise what effect this would have on the gun culture in this country, the baddies aren't going to say ok guv it's a fair cop,of course they're not ,what they're going to do is get armed to the teeth which will end up in gunfights in the streets, which will then end up with all citizens wanting to be armed,Look at the states,is this what every body wants in this country.
The media likes nothing better than to slag the police off,so this then convinces us that they are crap, but you very rarely here about the good things they are doing .
So in answer to your question ,NO i think they do a crackin job and people need to educate themselves before they make these judgements.

connect the northern constabulary or strathclyde police; with the quantity of murders in glasgow you will have a uncommon previous time. purely watch (previous ) taggart sequence to help further your training. on a extreme notice i think of that's ridiculus the way you have been taken care of and if i grew to become into you i might touch the race equality commision and rfile it; in spite of everything they're being racist in direction of you

You should see how other countries police work(or don't) before you slag our police off. Many forces are worst than the criminals and to be avoided as British tourists quickly learn if they try to report anything.

Think they've been a LOT better, but still prefer our police to other countries forces. For example, search for "LAPD" on Youtube to see what high regard they are held in! :)

I believe the individual does the best they can while being handicapped by crippling bureaucracy and central government policies and targets.

I don't think many people have got a full understanding of what is really involved.

A policeman needs our support to help carry out their duties, no they are not a joke, it is many of the public who are the joke.

We have been having so much trrouble with the local chavscum (little hoodie b*stards) and last time we reported it (vandalising cars, chucking stuff at our house, threatning my other half with a knife) they said they'd come round to see us and never did.

They also weren't interested when the hooded ones were terrorising a housebound 86 year old neighbour of mine.

I'd be very happy to see the LAPD beat the crap out of these little toerags. Our lot couldn't care less.

No wonder people take the law into their own hands! My other half keeps a big knuckle bar handy these days!
