Despite the catastrophy that fauna and flora have suffered and are still suffering of forest fires, the Greek competent ministry issed a decision permitting unlimitted hunting.
Within the next days I'm filing with the Supreme Court a Petition of Annulment of this decision, and apart from the disaster which took place in Greece I need to bring evidence about the catastrophy of habitats all over South-Eastern mediterranean countries (Italy, Balkans, Turkiye), which affects the populations of birds mailny, either endemic or immigrative and their survival.
I therefore need evidence of Turkiye too, as to where habitats have been burnt down and how many square kms are estimated to have been lost from the begining of this summer.
Any information has to be in English, and ofcourse, printable.
Thank you in advance....

Angelo, I know that you are not dealing with this case because of your profession but because of your emotional and humane responsibility to nature and wildlife.

That is more valueable to me than your title, in my humble opinion..

Therefore, please feel free to ask me for assistance regarding this matter, anytime. I don't think you need assurance about it, either..

If the links are not sufficient to your needs, give me more specific leads and I will try to find more.

I think that you should attend and stay in the background. The reason why I would advise this is that he may tell a pack of lies which your barrister would be in a better position to contradict if you were able to provide additional information which would help in the cross examination. Often this is not the case, but just supposing there might be something with which you could help, I think that it is worth while to turn up at court. It is a painful thing to do, but you are otherwise going to sit at home/work fretting.

I read in a Turkish daily yesterday (either Milliyet or Hurriyet) that fishermen and hunters in Bodrum appealed the government to postpone the hunting season on the grounds that it has been a very hot and dry season which affected fish negatively. They also said that a lot of forests were burnt and birds and other wild animals had no place to live and breed. Therefore, opening the new hunting season will mean extinction of the fauna.
If someone knows the website of any Turkish hunters and fishermen websites, please forward it to Dellarovere.

It's great that you're actually stepping up and helping out the habitat. Sadly, I don't have any information on this topic, so I will have to wish you the best of luck instead :-) Good Luck!

Dear Dellarovere,

This is a painful issue. And a highly bureaucratic one.

To my humble opinion, it is useful to know the history on all EU legal actions against various EU nations over environmental issues :
http://ec.europa.eu/commission_barroso/dimas/_includes/archive_news_en.htm

Among those, many actions are specifically against EU nations policies with respect to birds and their habitats:
http://europa.eu/rapid/pressReleasesAction.do?reference=IP/06/907&format=HTML&aged=0&language=EN&guiLanguage=en

I guess there you will find many useful data to file your report.

Good luck-Keep us updated
