out of all of the tattoo work i have had done in the past year (both of my shoulderblades done this year) they were the least painful out of everything else. not that it "wasn't" painful but i have had much more painful tattoos before. another factor in pain is how many needles are used during the tattoo. on my left shoulder a smaller number of needles were used, something like 8 and on the right he used a grouping of 13. the thirteen needles hurt WAAAAAY more but the tattoo went a lot faster.

I cant imagine it would hurt that bad. Meatier parts of your body will hurt less than softer or bony parts. So you might feel some discomfort as they go over your shoulder blade. I got one done on my lower back and it hurt like something wicked. There was another guy at the shop who had a ton of tattoos who also said his lower back one hurt the worst. I'd honestly pick upper back over lower back if your concerned about pain not to mention if you are needle phobic getting it done on your back doesnt allow you to see anything and makes it easier to handle. I'm someone who goes ballistic when getting a shot or blood drawn but by not being able to see the gun it eased up those fears.

who ever said tattoos don't hurt...LIED

its kind like when a person says size don't matter.....another LIE

I have a large tattoo on my left back shoulder and shoulder blade... I can tell you that the less meaty areas aren't bad but if you chose a place where the skin is close to the bone... It Hurts More!

depending on your personal pain threshold go for it

Every tattoo hurts. Think better if this is your first tattoo. Do u really like that little picture that much that u want it on your body your whole life?

It's better to do the non-permanent one it hurts less and doesn't last forever. U can do it again whenever u want. They usually last for 6-7 years. Imagine yourself as an 80 year old grandma with a cool modern tattoo! That's just my suggestion I'm not a tattoo artist. Enjoy! xoxo

it depends on what you're getting; the size and whether or not its in color. i got mine done about almost a year ago. this was my first one and ive gotten more since then. the one on my back was the one that hurt the most, im not sure if its because it was my first or because of the size. but yea, it does hurt but only for a little bit. after a while you start to go numb and it doesn't hurt as much. you can feel the needle, but there isnt much pain. when he made the first line of my tat i wanted to tell him to stop, but then i looked at the sketch and thought about the reason for getting it and all i did was smile. once its done and healed, its so worth it.

haha thats kind of like asking if it hurts when you get a rug burn.
tattoos hurt temporarily but the pride and WAY AWSOME look of them after the fact is very satsifying. don't psyche yourself out over the pain. i've had 2 rib tattoos and that is one of the most painful parts.. very thin skin on bone. go in to the shop with a good attitude. it's a good pain. because if you want the tattoo bad enough you won't care.

I have a tatt on both shoulders, they actually did hurt more than any other tatt I have. And I have one on my foot that they say hurts the worse but it really didn't. None of my tatts hurt enough for me not to get another.

it depends on the person. i got one across my shoulders yesterday and some of it really hurt but some bits i could hardly feel it yet someone i know had one done in the same place and it harldy hurt them and another person nearly cried!
it really depends on the person and your pain threshold.
just make sure you really want it and won't regret it
