I am due with a baby boy on 5 January. Do you agree with circumcism or not and if you could also please provide your reasons. Thank you.

A baby does not feel pain? I'd like to see that in writing and proven! It's a human being...it DOES feel pain.

There's a lot of controversy when it comes to this subject. I will begin with my boys aren't circumsized. I did LOTS of reseaerch when pregnant with my first. I wanted to make an educated choice. Here are some things that I found out (not to scare you - but they are facts!)
1. a little boys foreskin is attached completly, and doesn't fully retract until they are 5 or 6. So as a newborn, you don't want to retract it - it could tear and cause an infection.
2. Because it is attached, when removing it - it is said it's like if your finger nail was to be peeled off your finger.
3. Removal is actually 20% of the penis's length.
4. The penis actually produces an oil to help clean itself, but when the foreskin is removed, it doesn't produce this oil.
5. An uncircumsized penis head is soft and moist - where as when it is circumsized - it becomes hard - much like a calus (sp?). Because of this, it desensitizes it to a point.
6. People are concerned about their child being made fun of in the locker room - what 16 year boy is going to point at another boy when naked and laugh at him for not being snipped - teens fear being called gay!
7. When the procedure is being performed - the baby is strapped down - some babies have been known to break bones from resistance.
8. You hear people say "oh he slept through it all" what the parents don't know that the baby didn't go from screaming to sleeping in a matter of seconds - the baby can put itself into a slight coma - blocking out the pain.
9. Some docs don't you use a numbing agent - because it can cause swelling of the penis.
10. Most docs now won't let parents be in the room when it is done because of the tramau it has been known to cause on the parents - some Mothers - 15 years later can still their son's scream when it was being done.
11. Female circumcizing is banned - why isn't it for boys?
12. Countries that are more medically advanced then the US don't believe in circumsizing. Wonder why?
13. Insurance won't cover it being done - they consider it a cosmetic procedure.
14. More and more boys these days aren't - so by the time my children and your children are in school - the circumsized ones will be the "funny" ones.

You can google it. Just make an educated choice. Good luck!

I didn't circumsise as the medical evidence these days shows there is no valid medical reason stating why it is better to do it. I don't agree with the "daddy is done" thing as the medical knowledge now is so much greater than then. And it does hurt your child, 3 out of 5 babies I know that have been circumsized in the last 5yrs have screamed every time they peed for 2days afterward, they were all unsettled for at least 24-48 hrs afterward etc...and I would not want to put my baby through that for no real gain. I don't think its necessary and a complete waste of time. Plus you will have to find a doctor that will actually do it, years ago they were just done when they went to a doctors visit. Now you'll have to find a doctor that will do it as most don't advocate non-medically necessary operations like these.

Just like anything else if you research circumcision you will find just as many things for it as against. For each "valid" point you will find a "valid" counterpoint. We did research it for our son until my head spun over which to do and we decided to circumcise him. One thing I would highly stress is talk to the doctors in the practice and see which method of circumcision they do. There are so many newer ways to do circumcision but some docs prefer the old ways best.

Our son had the plastibell procedure done where they use a ring to cut of circulation to the foreskin and it eventually falls off. Both my husband and I were present when they put the ring on our son was not restrained except by my husband holding his legs and me talking to him, he did not cry during the procedure at all. There was little bleeding and no extra care was required except to keep the area clean during the "healing process". He never screamed uncontrollably while urinating for days. I can't remember how long it took for it come off but it was only a matter of days.

Its a very personal decision good luck!

It's a tradition that's been going on for thousands of years, and if something was really bad about it, there would be no Jews or Muslims left. Or at least they at least would've stopped circumsising.

I'd reccomend talking with a doctor and making sure your baby boy is right for it, and doesn't have any conditions that would make circumsison dangerous to his health. And maybe talking with spiritual leaders incase you're religous.

And it'll probably hurt for your baby to be circumsised, but he won't remember it (most likely). I don't think anybody has ever been traumatized by a memory of a circumsision.

It's really up to you to decide.

Those who say that it is for easier sanitary reasons have obviously been told wrong, it doesn't matter!
And I've just learned something else to! When the skin is cut off that hacks off thousands of little nerves, So for all the uncircumcised men out there that means they feel twice the amount of pleasure/sensation during sex!
And coming from a 17 year old who, well it's a damn good feeling!

I'm due in march and I think I'm having a boy. If I do he will be circumcised. My husband agrees with me. That it is better to do it when they are babies. My cousin had to be circumcised when he was 17 and he was in extreme pain for a while. And it seems, even though there is no proff that it is a little less painful when they are babies.

we agonized over it.
eventually my son had to be at age 5 as he had recurrent infections, his foreskin was so tight.
apparently 20 of boys are not cut in the usa
it should only be done for medical reasons.
although some could argue that cutting gives protection against aids, others could argue that a moral life can also lol

I warn everybody against it. I was born a healthy looking baby, but I was missing my pituitary gland, When they circumcised me
I went into shock, stopped breathing, turned blue, & they had to shove a tube for oxygen down my throat. I'm lucky I'm alive.

circumcize...it helps prevent infections and such. If not circumcized it brings on more infections in the foreskin. Circumsizing is good.

I had my son circumicised. I just thought it was easier because I didnt have to worry about having to teach him how to keep it clean. Plus, my husband insisted since he is not circumcised and wished he would of been.
