heyy there Brooklynbaby.. well im from Brooklyn NY also, and from reading your question, i couldn't help but feel the urge to put my 2 cents into this..
Honestly to let you all know, Brooklyn really IS a horrible place..
PHjuns description of it sounds 100% bullseye correct..
He left out a few things though.. The russian people who all SWEAR they are back in Russia and feel its ok to practice their ANARCHIST beliefs everywhere they go. They have their own little mafia in Brighton beach area too.
The Chinese people here are quickly becoming the NEW BLACK people..
The Italians are the most obnoxious jerkoffs you'll ever meet out here..and they ALL swear they are in the mafia LOL..
all the hispanics, think they are scarface LOL....
This is the birthplace of ignorant beliefs conjured up by african americans.. Just take a look at this link and read it all, ever heard of the 5 percenters??

you know what let me just stop now because i can go on FOREVER about how atrostic and absurd brooklyn is..
Don't even get me started on the Bronx either..
If your from NY and have your head on your shoulders (which is very rare here in New York) then you'll know what im talking about..

Because back in the early days of crack, late 80's early 90's big sections of brooklyn were like war zones. The 77th precinct, the 70, the 77 the 75 the 73 were all very busy. They had shootings and murders daily. This change during the Guiliani administration when he put a whole buch of police out on the street in those neighborhoods. Look at it this way, you're part of Brooklyn may be nice, I know mine is ok, but would you walk around flatbush and church after dark?

During the mid-80s, the media portrayed Brooklyn as a crime ridden crack haven borough. If you read the Daily News or the Post it seems as if all the murders were committed in Brooklyn. That is no longer the case. The media is now being kind to Brooklyn and portraying it as the great borough it truly is.

This is a good question.
I'm from CA and my perception of brooklyn is a scary place.
When I hear Brooklyn, I think dark, wet alleys, guido mobsters, black gangsters hanging on the corners, puerto rican gangsters bumping Big Pun/Fat Joe giving you the stink eye, crack being sold on the corners....etc etc.
Well, that's the perception of a California kid. Can you tell me what its really like?

I have no idea either, I've never been to Brooklyn before but I'm sure it isn't as bad as people say.
