I have heard that you are supposed to drink a glass of water for each drink.. I have also hear that it is good to eat salty food to absorb the alcohol, but are there any other tried and tested tricks of the trade?

Eat something before you start drinking. Something plain that won't upset your stomach later. You don't need a glass of water after each drink but definitely have a glass of water sometime during the night. Be careful if you switch between beer and liquor. The best way is to sober up somewhat before bed. If you go to bed drunk that's when you'll have a hangover b/c your body slows down and can't process all the alcohol. I have friends that SWEAR by drinking an Ensure before drinking but I've never tried it.

Foods that contain large amounts of fats like cheese work very well, pizza is very good. But the best solution is not to consume more than one beverage an hour due to this being the amount of time it takes the body to burn off the alcohol. Gender, weight and a persons resistance are also factors. Most of all don't drive after drinking because their are many things worse than a hangover.

You need to stay hydrated after drinking so drink plenty of water while you are drinking and also afterward when you are about to go to bed. Also drink in moderation and dont get completely wasted because the more alcohol in your system the less your body can handle it and the worse the hangover will be the next morning.

Salty, fatty foods absorb alcohol, like bacon wrapped chicken livers, for example.

The best hangover prevention I ever tried was to eat a meal first, and have no more than 2 drinks in 24 hours.

Don't drink...If you feel the need, well then you should know there really is no way to prevent it but you can lesson the severity of it. While you are drinking, In between your drinks you need to drink water. Not cold just room temperature. When you get home eat some bread, nothing on it just plain white bread. It really would be better if you did not drink...

Take a multivitamin before you pass out, and guzzle as much water as you can while you're boozing, you'll reduce the impact of the hangover, but you'll never get rid of the hangover. The following morning take a scalding hot shower, and as bad as it seems, eat a really big greasy breakfast. You'll be good as new in a quicker amount of time.

If you're planning on drinking a lot of alcohol at night-drink lots of water during the day. It really helps out a lot.

well, there's always not drinking at all.

I have heard that if you use alka seltzer after drinking, it prevents hangovers but I have never tried it myself.

The thing about eating salty food to absorb alcohol (totally ridiculous) what alcohol does is to dehydrate your body..salt also dehydrates your body..the combo wouldnt help your hangover at all.

Drink water and take a tylenol before you go to sleep, or eat something greasy and sdrink something carbinated before passing out. Bloody marys work in the morning if you forget.

You might have heard a lot of this and that but the only solution to hangovers is AVOID ALCOHOL.
