It depends:
- if you just take classes it's takes a long time and you only learn the writing and the reading....
- if you actually go and live in the country it's a lot FASTER and easier for you to get going with the flow
- if you know a language that is similar to the one that you're trying to learn then that will be pretty easy for ex. ( russian and bosnian)

You will never master a foreign language if it doesn´t surround you for a long time. Your new dictionary will get finger-spotted even twenty years after you have started to learn.

You'll learn faster if you talk with friends in that language. After 8 years I am still working on Arabic.

i learned to speak Russian fully in 1 year just by living there for 1 year i was 4 years old by the way
