Jesus stated that God requires worship in Truth and Spirit not in temples and manmade constructions. Truth and Spirit signifies conscious perception of God’s essence and knowledge about the principals governing the existence of all living organisms.
Historical facts have proven that all forms of organized religion are the roots of human misery, wars, separatism, division and ignorance.
Thoughts, viewpoints?

Bad Buddhist- With reference to historical data just take a good look at what happen during the 20th century. Where was organized religion during the two devastating World Wars when millions died in battlefields and death camps? What the Catholic Church did in Rwanda that caused the genocide of almost 1 million people. And if you look back into the past, what was the purpose of the crusades?
Look what happen after 9/11; Christians against Muslims the final Great War that will wreck this planet to ruins…
ICU – I’m not associating religion to God; I know religion has nothing to do with God. A BA in Religious Studies and a PhD in Archeology can prove my point.

Aint-that-rich – Organized religion emphasizes more on the structures and flamboyant temples than the actual message of the God they claim to represent. Do you know that most of the European temples and churches are build on top of the ruins of old temples on sacred places where lay lines converge? Have you any idea why?
After 25 years of religious related studies and research I realized the hard yet eye-opening truth that led me to renounce organized religion to its whole; however all expressions of faith are accepted and highly respected.

Because religion has given itself the ability to make God into anything that they want. In any scripture, God has never mentioned the word religion, but it's now a $3 billion a year business.

First I want to say that I believe in God with all my heart. Second I totally understand what your saying. How can one religion be better than the other? Humans are not perfect like God is. So how can w know what god truly wants. How can we know that God has said has been corrupted by men. I guess just have faith and do the best you can. I have a very hard time trusting anything from men. I know I am a man and I make plenty of my own mistakes.

That sounds a little disjointed to me, but let me take a shot at it.
You site Jesus, yet you downplay the the importance of Solomon's Temple, the center of Jewish worship, their holiest shrine and as Jesus referred to it-"my Father's House". An edifice that he, himself cleansed twice. Where the veil before the Holy of Holies was rent at His death.
Your statement about living organisms smacks of paganism, as well as a fundamental misunderstanding of the terms Truth and Spirit.
Organized religion has been here since Adam left the garden, and men have corrupted it nearly as fast for millennia.
God has only set a standard that has been rejected in every age of mankind. God doesn't start wars, misery, division or ignorance. Quite the opposite is true. It's been man's unwillingness to submit to the truth that has been his own undoing throughout history.
To answer your original question, God is a term lots of people use to try to label a supreme being. Religion simply attempts to define him and what responsibilities we have to him; whatever that mutation may be.

Do you have a reliable source for this?
It sounds like another form of dogma to me, but if you can show some proof...

Your perspective regarding what so called historical facts have proven are debatable. Further, all religions are not Christ centered, so it is innacurate to quote what you believe Jesus said in association with all religions. Regardless, to answer your question, it may have to do with the common element that religions are formed to worship God, therefore God is associated to religion.

You are associating God with religion, you are talking from a christian view point, Christianity believes in Jesus other religions do not.
If you want separate religions from God, you need to look into deism.

because men try and claim the own God theirs is the only way to know God. we all need to be open to his love for ourselves. religion should help us get to know God better but often I think it cuts us of from him with rules. Jesus condemned the Pharisees for their rules as you say God wont's us to know him for our selves not through a priest or imam.
