I want to paint our bedroom and I need a little help. My bedroom is a long rectangle. My bed sits under the only window and partially blocks it so I can't do alot for window treatment. Should I paint all 4 walls one color or should I have an accent wall with a different shade? the color is a honey yellow. if so which one should be an accent wall? I can't paint the ceiling. Floors are hardwood. I appreciate any help anyone can offer.

I wasn't asking anyones opinion on my color choice. Yellow is not to busy if you pick the right shade. I also can't move my bed, its huge(queen size captains bed) and only fits in the one spot.

I think you should think about how you walk into the room and take that into consideration about which wall to paint an accent color.

Just from the sounds of it, The wall with the window and your bed up against it seems like a good possibility for the accent color. It will make that part of your room the architecural detail and focal point.

In my old home, I had a weird shaped master - it was like you walked in at a diaganol on one corner of the room. It had a curved wall to your left when you walked in. I painted that curved wall to my left and the adjoing wall to the right in the deeper accent color and the farther adjoining walls a different, brighter color. It was neat, it's like the room opened itself up going from the darker to lighter. Again, I think it's how your room's entry is situation; that's why I mentioned you should take that into consideration.

Another suggestion would be to paint the accent color on 3 of the walls at a "wainscotting" type of heighth and then paint the 4th wall that same accent color. Or do 2 & 2. You've go a lot of options. Best of luck toyou.

1] paint window wall, and adjoining walls yellow.
2] paint wall opposite windows in wide yellow and white or ivory stripes [ vertical, about 6 inches wide [ measure out before you paint ]
3] put a lace or eyelet valance [ or one that matches bedding ] on window; and plantation shutters on bottom half that match wood trim, furniture, or floor wood.
4] put up a mirror on wall opposite the windows, to reflect more light.
5] get a white fluffy rug for the floor!
6] make a floral wreath with yellow daisies [ to match ] or purple violets [ to contrast ] with wall colors.

move your bed to a different area, and pick curtains that you like. then use those colors to paint the room. lighter colors will make the room look bigger.
