i don't know what kind of accounting firm you are planning on working at but unless it is a "hooters" casual dress then nobody should ever have a peek of your back while at work. as far as what and when you should get... in my opinion i month isn't long enough to know for sure that it's something you would want forever. lots of people get tattoos with little or no thought and have no regrets or problems afterward. BUT many people get them with little thought and regret them for a lifetime.
when the time is right you'll KNOW without a doubt, no question in your mind and until then you should be hesitant to make such a huge commitment.
good luck!

Ah I just love the idea of a Phoenix -- my daughter has one that wraps around from her back to her side and it is amazing.
If you are concerned that you will like your tattoo at the age of 20 but not at age 50, then I wouldn't get it done.
I have 25 tattoos and I am 48 and I am still glad that I have all of my tattoos and I don't regret any of them -- but that is me.
Yes, a tattoo can really chance your life so think long and hard before getting one. I would not be concerned about having a tattoo on your back in the workplace. Obviously it will be covered while on the job.
I am lucky that I work for a Software company and the majority of my tattoos are visible all of the time and well accepted.
Good luck!

I assume you are a male so 99% of the time you won't be seen this way by your peers or supervisors at work, especially in your chosen field. I worked in the field as well and was a SVP in a Fortune 100 company. I never gave much thought to the small tattoos that you would notice especially on the younger guys and girls, ankles, arms, etc. The only time I was put off by it was when one of the younger marketing managers was at a fairly formal party for some big clients, this was a female and had always worn long sleeves around the office, at this party she wore a dress that showed a lot of back and was low cut in the front, turns out she had tatts, a huge one on her back and several on her arms. I think most of the people were a little put off by it. In 5 years though things will change more and be more accepted but with all your second thoughts and fears I think you should wait.

lol just get something that will be covered by normal work clothes.
if you are a boy, then i'm going assume that your normal work ensemble will be atleast a polo shirt. so anything you get done on your back will be covered by the shirt.
plus if you own your own company you can go in shirtless everyday if you want to. because it's yours. no one can tell you what is wrong or right :)
if you're going to be looking at life in a new way, why don't you make part of that new perception to not be so worried about little things like tattoos. people with tattoos all over their bodies still get jobs.
being a good worker should be what gets you a good job, not your appearance.

well 1st off if ur getting a tattoo on your back, noone should see it, i think people only in the workplace are easy to judge you when u have tattoos like everywhere noticeable, now that's just dum if u have a very professional job...but as 4 when u get old, it shouldn't be a problem, it's still on ur back, either way it goes, it's a tattoo so of course it will b there 4ever, but if u can cover it noone else will kno!! :) GO 4 IT!!

A tattoo won't change your outlook on life -- only you can do that.
You've come up with so many negatives, and not enough positives to outweigh them. You know what you really want, you just wanted us to convince you to get the tattoo, and go against your better judgment.
It is on your back, and I doubt many of your colleagues will see you shirtless... Well, I hope they don't :-X
If they ever happen to see you without it, they're reaction will probably be, "Wow, what a shocker! Cool!" instead of, "Ohh, he's trashy."

ok, here's the deal... as an accountant, is there a time when you dress code will call for shirtless? in a professional field, you most likely won't have to worry about a tattoo on your back being seen... I know people who work in the professional world-very successfully with full-sleeve tattoos... as long as it is covered, no one will ever know... so as long as you aren't planning on being "the topless accountant", no one in your professional life has to know...

Having a tattoo doesn't lower your IQ points..its discrimination if you don't get a job because of a tattoo. Do what feels right to you.

If on your back that is private. It is the ones that are open to all that they see that could be frowned on.
