This is where my mother in law & I disagree. I'm Christian & she is a Jehovah's Witness. She says only the 100,000 in the book of life will go to Heaven, Christians are taught all who believe in Jesus go to Heaven...ok so what is that in Revelations where it says about the 100,000 in the Book of Life? Surely more then 100,000 believe in Jesus. I firmly believe that all who believe in Jesus will go to Heaven but I have to admit, the passage in Revelations about the 100,000 has me thinking now. She believes those not in the 100,000 who still believe will be in paradise on earth.
PLEASE back up your answers with references so I can research this. Thanks!

Again, please provide references & verses. I have been studying the bible for well over 17 yrs now & I'm simply asking others views of the Book of Life.
A simple "keep reading", I could do that myself. Obviously I have which is why I've presented this question. Thanks.

Most of the New Terstaments weren't codified into the Bible until some 400 years after the life of Christ. That includes the Revelation of John of Patmos. A lot of folks fixate on John's description of Armegeddon in his writings. The place already exists! It's called Megedo and is located north of Jerusalem. It's a place which is on the traditional invasion route between Egypt and Lebanon and Syria. It's probably been walked over by more armies than were ever accounted for. The only parts of the New Testament that were written at the time they happened are the Epistles. The 100,000 number has no significance at all. It's tied to a doctrine concerning the "rapture" which was proclaimed by some Protestant preacher in the 19th Century.
All of this nit-picking and parsing of scriptures misses the central message which Christ conveyed in his life, death and resurrection:
1. You are loved.
2. You are forgiven.
3. You are saved.

If your mother in law is a witness, I am sure she would be more than happy to let you know exactly where it is she is talking about in the bible if you ask her.

And yes, believing in Jesus is a requirement to get into heaven, and as others have already pointed out, Not every religion believes in Jesus. There is also the addition of all those other rules that they sneak into the bible that says "if you do --------, you will NOT inherit the Kingdom" (- see my example below). so all this stuff does eliminate quite a few people on the planet from entering Heaven. So when you accept Jesus, you are supposed to repent - give up all the evil ways that you had been living.

1 Corinthians
9Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders 10nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

According to John 3:16 you have to be born again in order to go to heaven it doesen't matter how good you are or what religion you are. The Jehovah's Witnesses believe Jesus was a Spirit and died on a stake not on a Cross. The Muslims believe he was a Prophet and Believe Allah is God and Mohammed is the one who is the true Prophet not Jesus Christ. The Mormons believe Joeseph Smith was inspired by an angel to find brass plates and translate it into the Book of Mormon which I believe they use more than the Bible. They have 2 other Holy Books as well. They also believe man was created in God's image and don't believe in the Godhead.

In John 3:3 "Unless a Man Be Born-again, He Shall Not Enter Into The Kingdom Of God"
We Must Accept Jesus As God, Or They Can't Be Saved. J.W. Deny Jesus As God. They Are A Cult.
I Had one to tell me "they have the Head knowledge".!
Not Good enough.....Has to be in the Heart! You cannot Reason with them dear, Unless You are "grounded" In The Bible. Jesus warns us "not to throw Our Pearls Before them." But we can Pray for them. (She's Trying To Tell You The Bible claims That I44,000 are going to Heaven!) Out of context! NOT TRUE.

John 3:16 (I think...) "And God sent his only son so that whoever shall believe in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

Sorry, it's not an exact quote, since I'm not really in a position to get my bible at the moment.

Hope this helps, if only for your first question.

If none of these answers help satisfy you, though, go to your pastor or minister or whatever and talk it out with him/her. He/She should have some good insights or should at least be able to point you in the direction of someone who could explain what it actually means.

Sorry I can't be of more help, but I haven't quite gotten to that point yet, and no one's ever mentioned it to me. :D Guess I'll have some late night reading then, eh?

Oh, and try not to let religion become a sore subject between you two. Best of luck!

Jesus is The Way, The Truth and The Life. No one comes to the Father but by Me (Jesus). who ever follows this goes to Heaven.

The 144,000 referenced in the Revelation letter is a figurative number, but doesn't represent all those who will go to heaven. Scripture says those who do the will of God will go to heaven. What is the will of God? You have to read the Word to find out.
