How is something like, "It resembles....." said in Japanese? Or "It/he/she looks like...."?

Hello from Japan! Sorry for my poor English, but I try my best to answer your Q.

Formal ways to say, "A resembles B, A looks like B."

".A wa B ni niteima su." (AはBに似ています.)
"A wa B ni sokkuri desu." (AはBにそっくりです.)
"A wa B mitai desu." (AはBみたいです.)
"A wa B no ikiutsushi desu." (AはBの生き写しです.)
Cf. "Ikiutsushi" is equal to "very image of, ditto, extra replica."

Example sentences:
He resembles his father very much.
=Kare wa otousan ni totemoyoku niteimasu."
(彼はお父さんにとてもよく似ています。)
Sam loos like his uncle.
=Sam wa ojisan ni sokkuri desu.
(サムはおじさんにそっくりです。)

Informal ways to say, "A resembles B, A looks like B."
"A wa B ni niteiru." (AはBに似ている.)
"A wa B mitai dane." (AはBみたいだね.)
"A wa B ni sokkuri da." (AはBにそっくりだ.)
"A wa B ni niteru ne." (AはBに似てるね.)
”A wa B no ikiutsushi da." (AはBの生き写しだ.)

Example sentences;
She resembles her mother.
=Kanojo wa okaasan ni sokkuri da."
(彼女はお母さんにそっくりだ。)
Stephanie looks like her elder sister.
=Stephanie wa oneesan ni niteru ne.
(ステファニーはお姉さんに似てるね。)

"It resembles ___" or "It/he/she looks like ___" in Japanese is:
___に似ています。 ___ ni niteimasu.
___のようです。 ___ no you desu.

ex.:
He resembles his father.
He looks like his father.
彼は彼の父に似ています。
kare wa kare no chichi ni niteimasu.
