If you know where to look than 2500 is enough. I would suggest adding an extra 500 to your overall budget just in case.

I suggest going to mong kok street market and the night market at temple street for souveniers, theres something for everyone in those markets and 500 hkd should me sufficient for gifts.. The ladies market is a great place to go but also look at stanley market for some good bargains. Remeber, always haggle for the price, don't be afraid to walk away if it's too high, the next shop will probably have the same item and you can try and see if you can get it cheaper...

You'll find them in most if not all malls around the city, but you'll find more of them in and around Mongkok, because the goods are cheaper. It's not just for the mainstream stores, but Mongkok and other places have the small independently run stalls in these multilevel malls that sell small toys, electronic gadgets, accessories and video games that teens like. The Ladies' Market, which is an alleyway of open air stalls, is even cheaper still, and is like a flea market. As others have noted, the high end places like Pacific Place tend to be more stocked with pricer goods that appeal to a different customer segment. Mongkok definitely has an obviously younger demographic when you visit the shopping areas there.

i suggest bringing more than what you plan to spend for emergencies like if you suddenly need medical care, or if your money gets stolen. if you need 2500 for the trip, bring about 4000 to 5000. that's just a few hundred US dollars. you can keep your extra money at your hotel's safety box. just make sure not to spend it if you don't really need it.

It depends on what you buy. If you going to buy a cell phone,t hen it isn't enough. If you buy some cheap stuffs, then that's ok. I would recommend 5000.
