On every page of the bible God either himself kills people or orders the execution of people. He flooded the whole earth, all the animals, women, and babies. He killed the firstborn of Egypt. He ordered that two children be killed for making fun of a prophet. He killed Jobs family just to prove to Satan that he is right.

Lot offers his two virgin daughters to the soddomites, as if they are nothing but a peice of meat.

People get stoned to death for not keeping the Sabbath

The list goes on. How can one learn any morality from this? Would you offer your daughters to be fked by a whole town?
Would you stone someone to death for sinning?
Would you kill innocent babies?
Would you kill a person's innocent family just to prove a point?

THEISTS: STOP DIGRESSING. YOU ARE BEING INDIRECT. YES, THERE ARE GOOD PARTS OF THE BIBLE, BUT YOU BETTER TAKE THE WHOLE PACKAGE OR NONE OF IT. SO PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME THE PART OF THE PACKAGE I WANT TO KNOW ABOUT.

Craig: "You assume the worse that can happen to a person is that they die. That's just not true and it's not a biblical position. We are eternal beings"

Your assumption: We are eternal.

CK: "Do you mean to tell me that history is not full of life being hard, of people being immoral and evil at times and of horrible stuff happening?"

Sure, but we are talking about the omniscent, omnipotent, all caring being that created us here. Humans can be evil, humans make mistakes. But this being is suppose to be our caretaker, suppose to be all good. Why does he kill Job's family, the first born of Egypt, and two children for laughing at a prophet?

Does that sound like mercy to you?

CK, UPDATE: SO YOUR TELLING ME THAT IT'S OKAY TO DO SOMETHING HORRIBLE SO LONG AS YOU COMPENSATE THE PERSON FOR IT? SO IF SOMEONE BREAKS YOUR LEG BUT PAYS YOU 20,000 DOLLARS FOR IT, IT'S A DEAL? IT'S JUSTICE? THAT'S WHAT YOUR SAYING, BASICALLY.

IN ANY CASE, WHAT ABOUT THE BABIES IN THE FAMILY? THEY DIDN'T EVEN START A LIFE, SO HOW COULD THEY BE COMPENSATED?

How!!
Simple. Read it through your eyes, not through other eyes. Don't let others think for you. Do it for yourself, and educate yourself, from the right source. There are many different venue that main tendency it to discredit, not to educate.
Is that what makes you heart sing! I will not waste my time, nor yours by explaining everything to you, for I am certain you don't want to know. Are you one who wants to pick, pick and pick and judge that which you don't understand and others! is that all!

Why don't you look at all the good things in it!
Why not think and speak of all the good Christian who do so much good for others, but no that does not help your theory of picking on those who believe in the Bible. One of example of many, Mother Teresa. She spent all her life serving others. ALL HER LIFE. Morality! the Bible is where she learned it from.

Jesus Said: " Dust your shoes from any dirt."
think about it. you might get it why I am not going into so much details to help you. For I can't help those who don't want to truly understand.

Step up buddy, and learn what Jesus taught. In not so many words. Love, Understanding and Peace. Don't take my words read for yourself.
No sugar coating or PC.

You're mischaracterizing the Bible. It is definitely not the case that God kills people on every page.

You're also missing the point of every story you quote. It's like saying all we ever do is lock people up in prison. John Wayne Gacy, Timothy McVeigh, Scott Peterson, the list goes on and on. We are a cruel society because we imprison people.

Obviously what's missing is that these people were imprisoned for crimes they committed. Their actions had consequences. In most of the stories you quote, the bad results came as consequences for bad actions.

Furthermore, you are taking a point of view of death that is biased and subjective. You assume the worse that can happen to a person is that they die. That's just not true and it's not a biblical position. We are eternal beings, for whom this life is a brief moment. It will end for all of us. Whether it does in the next minute, or tragically, or as the result of crime, or in old age, or whatever, it will happen. After that we continue to live forever. Now, where and under what circumstances is a matter for debate.

Lot was never commended for offering his daughters to the Sodomites. That was his idea, not God's.

You need to go back and find the lesson in these stories. Yes, there are sins that it could be argued are worth stoning. That old testament law doesn't apply to Christians today, but it could be justified. You're application ("would you kill..." "would you stone someone...") is not to the point. I'm not God. I wouldn't do those things because I don't have the moral authority.

actual no longer South Park. As an person, i will savor the coach for it is potty mouth humor and the jibes it takes in any respect matters yet a three year previous isn't any way close to the right age to appreciate the version between what's suited habit in our society and the trashy attitudes of the South Park characters. At 3 years previous, examining immediately from the Bible could bore any new child. They make new child's books with Bible thoughts and you will prepare your new child morality training your self devoid of subjecting them to a minimum of a few thing as horrifically un-computing gadget as South Park. No t.v. coach could be another to studying the important lifestyles training. they could be coming from you.

If you truly seek understanding of morality, then perhaps you could understand that the list you made were acts carried out by man, not God, in a fallen world yet. I believe you are mistaken when you say that God killed Job's family to prove anything to satan. More likely, he allowed what happened for his own glory. Satan is created also. God restored Job too. We are created and it isn't our place to question our creator any more than the clay should question the purpose of the potter. Now don't go assume that I haven't questioned if we are created or not because I have. I've concluded that we are and once you conclude this then you are then able to build faith. I believe it is not possible to build faith and understanding if you are struggling with whether you believe in God and whether or not he is moral or good. If you believe God exists, then perhaps you should try to understand him instead of judging him.

there are SOME good moral stories in the bible, aside form the commandments which are kind of obvious.

in the story of Ester, she stands up for what she believes is right and risks everything, including ehr life, when she does so.

David & Golaith is supposed to illustrate that even a small force, if guided by the right principles and is commited, can overcome the most strong and evil tyrant.

you have to look for the stories about PEOPLE, not God and those he gives order to, to find the heartwarming morality that christanity tries to teach.

and don't reject this as christian mumbo-jumbo, I'm and athiest who has read the Bible cover-to-cover to have more ammo when i defend myself.

You can look at the Bible from a merely skeptical standpoint, trying to discredit the Bible by searching for falsehoods, hypocrasy and the like, or you can look at it as the Word of God that was intended. If you take the time to actually try to understand God as you read the Bible, you will not have the view of Him that you have, which is evident in the wording of your question. If you stop to consider the time in which these things were written, then you will consider that the culture in which these people lived was vastly different than today's, and as such, the customs, punishment for things etc were vastly different as well. That said, the Bible is practical for every age and era because it is not the consequence of the behavior that God is trying to stress with us. He is trying to stress to us what is acceptable to Him and what is not.

Please, read the Bible with a sincere desire to understand and to learn - without any preconceived notions of anger, scorn or mocking. I don't agree with the beliefs of many other religions, but I do try to sincerely understand these teachings and set out to learn more about them - not from a mocking, disagreeing point of view, but with the attitude that I could learn something. It doesn't change my beliefs, but it does help me to understand better. One can't really judge the Bible and what it says and stands for if one is reading it with the intent of finding fault with it. If you read it with the sincere desire to understand God and what the Bible is really all about, then your mind will be open to whole picture of the Bible and to the message it contains. God is not someone you can just put in a box and label, the way you have done. In order to even come close to an understanding of who God is and why He does what He does, you have to delve into His Word with sincerity, and seek to honestly learn and understand what He is saying there.

Christians skip over those parts and they are not going to thank you for reminding them about the stuff they would rather not look at.
My guess is you will not receive a direct answer .
And those who believe in a God that kills babies will justify his actions "because he's God". Yeah. Scary.

The Bible also talks about satan rebelling against God. Geez, talk about mixed messages! Should we rebel against God or not? I mean, the Bible says not to, but then it has stories about folks rebelling against God. What to do?
