Why do the Jesus-folk think it's alright to try and decide what people can and can't talk about?

Anyone notice that any question/answer that they don't agree with automatically gets reported as abuse? That they love to burn books? That they want the right to edit films for content THEY object to?

Looking at the moral track record of these people, what with all the wars, inquisitions, torture, the wanton destruction of entire cultures, languages, etc, exactly what quallifies THEM to set the standards for everyone else?

As a Christian, I think censorship is a stupid idea, only because it draws attention to the material being censored.

Remember that whole "children and Internet porn" fiasco that started up about 15 years ago? People blew that so far out of proportion. And suddenly these little 5-11 year old kids-- who have no idea what porn is let alone why they should be interested in it--are suddenly seeking it out to find out why their parents don't want them to see it (it must be really neat if the parents don't want us to see it).

And as far as I can see, most people believe that there needs to be a certain degree of censorship. Where they disagree on--and again this relates to people of all faiths, including Atheism--is where the government's authority ends and where the parents' should be determining what their kids see.

Sorry, but their are few religions, cultures or nations in the world who could claim a history that makes them morally fit to dictate standards for everyone else. No Pagans, no Atheists, no Christians no Jews, No Muslims. NO ONE.

Not all religious people do what you say you do. The ones that are violent are often the most vocal and visible. That being said, any time a person attempts to control the lives of another by outlawing beliefs they don't agree with shows a deep insecurity and desire for control. They are not confident enough to allow you to believe as you want to believe-- instead they perceive you as a threat because your world views are contrary to their own.

You're right, of course. Some people (mainly Christians) do feel that they have some right to force everyone else to live by their beliefs. Where they get that idea is beyond me. Believe and live what you believe and allow others the same right. It should be pretty simple but for some reason (control issues perhaps) it's not.

I'm an atheist, but why do you lump all christians together? Not all of them feel this way and you are judging all by just a handful.

They are worried about morals.

Not their morals.

Yours and mine!

That is none of their business.

We're not interested in taking away anyone's rights, just protecting children from predators. We have free speech because of Christianity. Try free speech in a Islam or a Communist country and get yourself killed.
