My purse was stolen tonight from a local grocery store parking lot. I have canceled all of my cards, checks, etc. Is there anything additional I might need to worry about?

Thank you in advance for your input.....

Place a fraud alert on your credit reports, and review your credit

reports.

Fraud alerts can help prevent an identity thief from opening any more

accounts in your name. Contact the toll-free fraud number of any of the

three consumer reporting companies below to place a fraud alert on your

credit report. You only need to contact one of the three companies to

place an alert. The company you call is required to contact the other

two, which will place an alert on their versions of your report, too.

If you do not receive a confirmation from a company, you should contact

that company directly to place a fraud alert.

I would go out and get another license. Some people will try to sell your license off to minors, illegal immigrants, whoever could be looking for a fake ID. You'll also want to keep an eye on your credit report to see if they try any types of identity theft-especially if your SSN was on your license or your SSN card was in your purse. I would cancel your iPod account just in case or call have them put a hold on it. My husband introduced me to a great trick: photo copy everything that's in your wallet so you're 100% sure what's in it.

Notify the 3 main credit bureaus immediately to put a fraud alert out. Rekey your locks if your keys were stolen, a locksmith can do this at a reasonable cost for your vehicle and your home. Notify the secretary of state so no one can change your address on your driver license to divert your mail to another location before you get a replacement.

Remember to lock your doors and windows. They also have your address. If they got your house keys you should change your locks!!!

BE mindful of strangers in your neighborhood and ask your neighbors to keep an eye out as well! Record all license plate numbers of visitors to your block!

I know it sounds silly, but better safe than sorry.

For a complete list of safety ideas, contact your community policing dept. of your local law enforcement and the neighborhood watch teams.

You need to file a police report. Then head to the DMV for a new license.

The next logical thing to do is obtain your license again as soon as possible, because it seems youv'e covered everything else.
