i agree .. radical interpretations of religeous beliefs may be "a" problem .. but not "the" problem and eradicating religeon wont provide any solution to mankinds dilemma ..

The question is who agrees with you? Religion was once a necessity. There is no way civilization would be where it is today without religion. (Not necessarily a good thing) However, because of radicalism and refusal to adapt to the changing times, religion has grown less important to society and has, in some cases hindered moral progress. If religion were gone tomorrow, would there still be rape and murder? YES, of course there would be, most likely, more. So I agree that regardless of the existence of religion, there will be sin, but at the same time I disagree with your last sentence, it would make a difference, but for the worse.

Actually almost all of the criminals are religious. If you check the statistics it is a shock how few atheists end up in prison. A Christian is 20 times more likely than an atheist to be serving time in a penitentiary. When you look at capital offences the differential becomes even more dramatic.
If you look into the history of most major religions and especially Judaism, Christianity and Islam the level of persecution and violence just over religion is astounding.

uhmmm have you ever thought that even without religion it is still not acceptable to murder rape or commit crimes? have you realized that all major wars have been caused by religion?!?!?! can;t you realize that the crusades - which are the most devastating war ever were about religion - can you realize we are murdering millions of innocent civilians because of thier religion??? can you realize that you are ignorant and maybe need to learn a little more about what is going on in the real world - most of the people in prisons DO claim a religion and most of them had it before they went in - but they dont care - because they either believe A) they can repent and God will forgive them B) God told them to do it C) it is within thier religion to commit the acts they are doing (such as the christians murdering millions of civilians in the middle east because they think christiany is the only way - and i do not only mean in this war)
grow up and realize that religion is the CAUSE of the wars not the answer to them
the reality is no one true religion is right - and the best society would be one where all religions, and even those who choose not to believe can all live in peace together without anyone trying to force their beliefs on someone else -
in other words the wperfect world is one without ignorant self righteous people like you

I feel that if everyone believed in God, then this world would be more peaceful. I am not saying we all have to believe in the same god, but just a god. After all, the overall message in many religions is essentially the same. However, this will not end those issues with which you speak of. Those crimes and cruelties will happen regardless. Religious people committ crimes too. But I do feel the world would be better off and way more peaceful.

Actually in the US most of the people who do those things are Christians. Over 80% of Americans define themselves as Christians and they make up almost 90% of the prison population.
But most who say that the world would be better off without religion are referring to all the wars religion has caused.

It wouldn't be a perfect world but it would remove one element that has historically been responsible for so much death and destruction.
Look at the present condition of the Middle East where the Jews are fighting the Christian and Muslim arabs and the Christian americans are fighting the Muslims and the different varieties of Muslims are fighting each other.
The root of this is religion.

Maybe if religion wasn't distorted so much, there wouldn't be problems. It's not the religions that cause problems, it's the retarded people who follow them. And I say this as a Christian. I mean, look at so called Christians who murder Muslims or Fred Phelps who says God hates fags. Or Muslim extremists who kill innocent people or Jews who speak hatred of Muslims.
It's frustrating... so much hate in the world...

Wrong because YOU thought about it, well I'll be darned.
Yeah, bad people would always exist, but they exist just as much now as they would then. Social order plays a large roll in the behavior of people... if we lost religion, well we'd just lose half the reason for the world to fight. And maybe that would be worth it.

loose philosopher, that's not the religion, nor the ability not the Atheists nor the rest that persons element their palms at. that's the ABUSE of those issues that's the crux of the problem. do away with the abuse and you have eradicated the matters of the worldwide. yet as lengthy as there are persons who insit that their way is right and correct and all human beings else is user-friendly out incorrect. as lengthy as they sense that they have got the authority to tension their perspectives down all human beings else's throats on the area of a weapon, the killing will proceed. weapons do not kill, drugs do not kill, Religions do not kill yet; selfishly stimulated human beings DO kill. and that they have got a tendency to apply in spite of point of view and perspective that they save on with to justify that killing and that's what's erroneous. Theists could be completely ideal in the event that they might prepare the Religions that they purport to evangelise, yet they might fairly use those religious ideals as weapons and justifications for his or her own ill, inner hatreds against all of us who's in comparison to themselves. there is not any team on earth that's exempt from having such human beings of their midst, not Christians, not Atheists, and that i'm sorry to assert not even Wiccans. each and every team has individuals interior of them who use their social team's commencing place as a potential to dominate others, even on the area of a weapon. sure humans are barely evolved savages always on the verge of employing violence as a means to an end but religion is often used to justify, encourage and reward the most heinous behaviors. in the minds of believers their religion can turn infanticide or genocide into a holy act of faith.
