I moved to Oregon two and a half years ago and left my market behind me in Texas. since I got here, I've had one heart attack, been diagnosed with diabetes and epilepsy, my health is failing and I've done run out of money and possibilities as to how to get my meds taken care of and my bills as well,.....I am ashamed of my situation and I seek advice as what to do other than just go find someplace and die.

First of all, if you have a diagnosis from a doctor on paper, go get a Social Security Lawyer. It will cost you in the end if you win, and you usually do, but it will be well worth it. It will cost nothing up front. Secondly, go to Freedrugcards.us and get a free prescription card. This will help alleviate medication costs. Their phone number is 1-877-459-8475. When you win your SSDI, you will get back pay from the day you filed with your lawyer so there will be plenty of money to pay him with a nice wad left for you. Don't delay! Go do this today. Maybe the lawyer will come to your home. Some states provide this service. I am so sorry you are having such a bad time in your life right now. I went through the same kind of agony four years ago, but with the help of the lawyer and a few good friends (and I do mean a very few) I got by and I am here today. I have multiple sclerosis. It was no picnic for me, either. I hope you get the help you need. God bless you. Not that it will make life any easier, but you get a star.

You really have been through it, haven't you? Sounds dreadful. You didn't say whether you have a job or not, whether you have family or good friends close by who can offer support, moral or otherwise. The first thing I want to tell you is to stay positive. It takes just as much energy to be negative as positive and you'll feel better being positive. Things can and will turn around for you. Every city/town has resources to help people who are having a bad time. Find your local Medicaid office, city/county mental health offices, if you've attended church there at all ask someone at that church where you might find help. Maybe go to the library and read the local newspaper to find information. I imagine even the librarian could give you some needed info. Do you think you'd be better off going back to Texas? If so, are there any friends or relatives who could help you make that move? Don't be afraid to ask for information and/or help. All of us run into hard times so please don't be embarrassed in finding the help you need. And best wishes to you.

You should be able to get some help from your doctor's office getting your medicatons. They should be able to give you samples to help you get your meds. I work in a family practice and was actually surprised how many people we provide meds for on a routine basis due to low income. Also apply again for the assistance and keep persistant at the process, if your eyesight is failing you should have more of a chance at government assistance since you are an illistrator that puts you into the disability category. Also your doctor should have a medication assistance program in addition to samples. Go to the township trustee and ask what kind of help is available for you. Also feel free to go to community centers that provide meals for low income and homeless, you can save money that way. Everyone has had hard times and illness can knock anyone down from their normal life. It has turned my life upside down twice in the last few years. Good Luck and don't be afraid to ask for help, there are so many people waiting to give you a hand up.

I am so sorry that you are having a rough time. First of all, Im sure there is something out there in your community that would help. I live in GA and here we have a family and childrens services center. They provide help with meds and other things that are very helpful. Also, there are churches out there that will help you as well. Maybe you can go on the internet to find such services in oregon. Maybe you could go to google and type in "help with meds in Oregon" and that sort of thing.I hope the best for you. Hang in there. Things will look up. I will be praying for ya.

If you are truly disabled there are state programs that you are most likely eligible for some of the help. You can apply for medicaid since you have no other means of support. You can apply for food stamps and there is an organization that will help with meds, either free or for a very low price. The name of the company is called P.P.A. Talk to the Doctor who has diagnosed your problems and he will help with the process of applying for some benefits.

You have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of; being ill is not your fault. I don't know anything about the healthcare system in Oregon, but don't they have some kind of state healthcare like MediCal that we have here in California, which would help you pay for the things you need?
