General science history, or a specific Field. General science history would be a huge huge Field. Having said that probably about a 5-6.

Most people with a PhD in History of Science have it in a specific field, so I'm not sure this is really a fair question. However, if that science was physics I'd say a 7.

All sciences, I'd say a 4.

But having 10 be "having a PhD in the history of science" is a pretty lofty requirement.

The history of science is so broad, it is nearly impossible to know anything near a reasonable amount of it.

This question obviously has a Theist motive behind it...

In broad, about 5. It's a massive field!

Best at cosmology and physics. Special interest in the origins of quantum theory. 6?

Chemistry, linguistics, sociology... bare 3
Botany, possibly worse!
History of human medicine, much better.

The "finding" and "refuting" of such things as phlogiston , N-rays and the canals of Mars do serve as interesting case-studies.
