Its actually a natural chemical thing that you can't completely controll try to track the pattern so you can control it or talk to your doctor because they can put you on birth control or something else which will take care of it. Seriously my periods were horrible and it was more than just aditude i would throw up too. its def. something you may need help with because as much as you do need to learn to control it, sometimes it is beyond what you can handle and that is when you need help from a professional.

Hormones change. Estrogen drops drastically a couple of days before your period starts. That gives you PMS. It doesn't get better once your period starts.

If you want to stop that, get on the birth control pill. Some of the pills, you can go 3-4 months without having a period, and you'll not have the cranky episodes, either, because the BCP will keep your hormones level all the time.

The hormones in the body go up to your brain, too, in your blood. They affect your emotions, in your brain. Plus, your muscles are contracting, like labor, and it doesn't always feel good.
