I believe that they would call that pilot error, if any of that was true it would be a manufacture's safety recall.

I have a Honda Civic. I got this car because its safety record, and cost of ownership, is first rate.

I have had a lot of problems with my cruise control.
My problems have been totally different from what you report. They are more of the nature of dropping out not sticking on.

I have asked my Honda dealer about it.

I was told that there are some parts in Honda autos that are not made by Honda, but by some other manufacturer, and some of them have not been up to certain Honda standards. I was told that, for a certain price, I could order a replacement cruise control and have it installed. I listened to the price, then decided I did not want it fixed that bad.

Steering has nothing to do with cruise control.

I have never had a problem with the steering sticking while the engine is running. The only problem I have ever had with the steering is when I managed to get the ignition out of adjustment, and I have since had that fixed.

I have never had a problem stopping the car. Every time I use the brake, it disconnects the cruise control, until such time as I restart it.

I have an accord and I was having the same problem...Mine was very simple though. I had accidentally pushed the Cruise Control button nearest the door. If you push it it turns it off, try pushing the button and then trying to use ur cruise control...Maybe thats all it is. If ur not sure what button I'm talking about, its like a big kind of square button on the left pretty close to ur driver side door.

Whoever told you that doesn't have a clue what he (or she) is talking about. steering has nothing to do with the cruise control, and any touch of the brake pedal will turn off the cruise control. Sounds more like your buddy was using cruise control on a wet road on a rainy day, something not to be done, and it accelerated on him and he panicked.

check and see if there has been a recall on this issue.
if so, the dealer will fix it for you
