if you have a lens with a 58mm tread on the end of it then yes

would i buy or use such a thing never the optics are very soft

Sure, why not? it's a simple diopter lens, if it has the matching thread to your camera, just screw it on and go.

You are better off getting a dedicated wide angle lens however, much better quality results.

Save your money and buy a Canon wide angle for your camera.
