When I was about maybe 11; my older sister who was 17 at the time and I got into a huge verbal argument. I remember cursing her out calling her a f**king c**t and she got mad as hell. She dragged me by the arm to the kitchen sink and pinned me against it with her body. She grabbed the bottle of Palmolive dish liquid, squeezed open my mouth, and poured some of that horrid stuff in my mouth. When I was able to get away I ran to the bathroom and did my best to rinse out my mouth; by adding water it made it foam up more.

When my parents came back I told my mother what happened. She didn't look to happy but she said I deserved it and didn't do anything about it.

Your sister was wrong. You might have choked and died. She should have gotten an asswhooping.

First off, your sister was apparently charged with your care and the only way she knew to teach you a lesson about profanity was to wash your mouth out with soap, and bully for her. But, forget it, it was a long while ago, I assume, so it is ancient history. Crawl back in your closet and whine to yourself. Your Mom didn't say a word, so you were wrong to tell Mom, that told her more than you even realize. One that you used profanity and two that you are a whiner.

Its going to come down to "Do you believe in corporal punishment?"

Physically forcing something into somebody's mouth is as "corporal" as it gets. Its a bad idea because you could choke, aspirate or be poisoned.

So ... I wouldn't recommend it as a punishment for ANYTHING.

Did you deserve it? No matter how many asterisks you put in the swears, they are just words. She responded to words with violence.

Now, I'm sure she was trying to implement the "wash your mouth out with soap" cliche ... but that is an old cliche for a reason. Kids die that way.

No, violence is not a reasonable response to verbal assault.

As much as you are now funding your shrink's next vacay off this memory, I would say yes you probably deserve it. It was wrong, you didn't know but it was. If I was your sis, I would pound you to pulp not put a chemical in you. At least you would remember the pain. I'm sorry if you're still reaming but from a girl's point of view, you were dirty in the name calling.

At the age of 11 that language is not acceptable, heck it isn't really acceptable at any age. My mother used to tell me if your going to do something be prepared to handle the consequences

I am sorry, but I think the punishment was deserved in this situation. I normally do not advocate physical violence in retaliation to verbal violence, but the nominal violence she gave and her age (nearly adult) and your situation (pre-teen) I am sure made you think twice before acting that way again.

Yes of course you deserved the punishment. You should learn a lesson from that. You are an idiot

Sounds like your family has some major issues.
And no child deserves that kind of treatment.
I'm not saying what you said was right either but you definately all needed or possibly still do need some counselling.

Well first of all your sister shouldn't be the one discipling you. That is your parent's job, but u calling her those names was probably the wrong thing to do. My mom did the same thing to me when i told my grandma to shut up. (I actually burped up a little bubble!) But u probably did deserve it, just not from your sister.

Yes, you deserved it. You had no right to use horrible words like that. You're lucky she didn't knock your teeth out.
