converting to Judaism takes between 1 and 2 years usually, depending on if you are wanting to be reform, conservative or orthodox. You have to talk to the rabbi- some make you ask 3 times (tradition) to prove that you are serious. The learning is intensive as well as having to go to every Shabbat service- both Friday evening and Saturday morning and all other holiday services. At the end, you are questioned by 3 rabbis and they decide if you are indeed a Jew in heart. Once you are converted, you will be considered a Jew as if by birth for the rest of your life by all other Jews- being Jewish is not something to take lightly, it's a lifetime thing. Good luck.

Check your local phone book for synagogues near you. Go visit and talk to the rabbis. Get a feel for which denomination (Orthodox, Reconstructionist, etc) is right for you. Get some books (Judaism for Dummies is a good start) and read up.
Keep in mind that traditionally the rabbi has to refuse your request three times (this is to make sure that you really want to convert, and it's not just an idle whim).

Start with your local temple! If you really live in Brooklyn then you have a fantastic assortment of Jewish temples and organizations near you. Nowadays most rabbis don't do the whole "make 'em keep coming back" act. Make an appointment at an Orthodox, Conservative, and Reform temple with the rabbi and tell them about your interest. They'll guide you from there. Good luck!

Read as much as you can about Judaism first. If you still want to be a Jew after that, get in contact with an ORTHODOX rabbi or synagogue.

Believe in Jesus and:
DO THE WILL OF GOD
You need to find a home church, be obedient, follow his word, be baptized with the holy spirit, show your self approved and do the will of God (Mark 16: 15 - 18)
In end times the Jews are going to go through tribulation, you do not want that.

reject all your current beliefs and learn more about judaism...do lots of reading, visit synagogues, take part in holidays, etc., and talk to a rabbi...preferably an orthodox one and be prepared to be pushed away about 3 times.

Start over, and start from the beginning. A TRUE JEW has the commandments of God(Old Testament) and the TESTIMONY of YAHSHUA(New Testament). Read God's commandments, then read how Yahshua TAUGHT TO OBEY those commandments. Stay away from other rabbis and Judaism, stick STRICTLY to the BIBLE ALONE. Since you've not been to 'church' for 10 years, it should be an easy process to start over.

Read your bible before you start the burden of Judaism.
Being raised Lutheran doesn't make you a Christian or anything.
Go to a bible believing church. Pray and repent of your sins
