No, the IRS does not allow deductions or credits for computers purchased for educational purposes, unless you were required to buy one and you paid the money DIRECTLY to the school.

Probably not. The only way you can claim it is if it is essentially charged as part of your tuition - you were required to buy that particular type of laptop, FROM THE SCHOOL, as a condition of attending the course. Even if you were required to have A laptop, and even if you bought it from the school bookstore, it would not be deductible.

The only way you can legally claim it on your taxes is if they required you to purchace to laptop for your classes.
