Bible forbids to make any kind of God's image.
The First Commandment states, "You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them." (Exodus 20:4)

There's probably only original paintings made of God's only begotten Son Jesus Christ as your probably aware of
back in Jesus's day. Actually in the following passages of
bible verses I would believe Moses has been the closest
person to actually seeing God.
Exodus 3:1-6 (From the King James Version of the Bible)
1 Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb. 2 And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed. 3 And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt. 4 And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I. 5 And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground. 6 Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God.
Below is verse is to why God's image may be a mystery.
1John 4:12 - (King James Version of the Bible)
No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.

wow, that right there tells everyone that you know nothing of religion because almost every christian religion has pictures of christ. There are lots of pictures of christ. The best paintings are from Greg Olsen who is LDS and he is very good and popular when it comes to paintings. Search his paintings.

Two words - "Sistene Chapel"
The Creation of Adam image (aka "And God said 'Pull my finger..'") is one of the most famous artistic renderings in the world.
So I guess Michelangelo missed that part of the Bible.

which would be cool--they could do an entire religious sequence. Krishna, Mohammad, Amon Ra, Buddha... And in action poses. Moses could desire to be parting the purple Sea, asserting, "reliable element I ate my Wheaties!"
