My mom and I were having a discussion. I said the reason a women has her period is because eve ate from the fruit of the tree? Does anyone else agree?

Yes God said that we would have to bear children because eve was the one who ate the fruit first. So it was kind of like a "punishment", if you will.

There has been precious little divine revelation on the subject, so your opinion about what some refer to as "the curse" is just about as good as anyone else's.

Here's what St. Paul said about it:

2Co 11:3 But I fear lest, as the serpent seduced Eve by his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted and fall from the simplicity that is in Christ.

1Ti 2:13 For Adam was first formed; then Eve.
1Ti 2:14 And Adam was not seduced; but the woman, being seduced, was in the transgression.
1Ti 2:15 Yet she shall be saved through child bearing; if she continue in faith and love and sanctification with sobriety.

Heb 9:22 And almost all things, according to the law, are cleansed with blood: and without shedding of blood there is no remission.

No mention is made about the "issue of blood" as a period was called but mention is made that the punishment Eve received from this God is pain in conception (childbirth). Genesis 3:16-17, and the punishment was for "both" of them for having eaten of the tree.

Hadn't had anything to eat since they were born, so wouldn't you be hungry too.....?

There's nothing in the scriptures to suggest that Adam and Eve couldn't have had children before the fall of man. In fact, Genesis speaks of the creation of "man" ( Gen. 1:26-28) and tells them to "be fruitful and multiply" before Adam or Eve's names are mentioned in the next chapter. There's nothing to say she wasn't having a period before the fall.

The verse you are reference is.

Genesis 3:16 NIV (www.bible.com)
To the woman he said, "I will greatly increase your pains in childbearing; with pain you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you."

Periods are probably a part of that, but not specifically mentioned except in a few places like when Rachel stole her father's idols and said she could not rise because she was "in the way of women" or something along those lines.

Since all creation fell with Adam all animals could be subject to the same issue.

There's no biblical basis for that interpretation.

One of the results of the fall was pain in childbearing. That's about as close as you come. One could imagine that before the fall birth for humans would be more like it is for animals where there seems to be little or no agony. (That's a layman's observation. Perhaps there are animals who scream like women in labor. I just don't know of any.)

no the bible says that the woman will have great pain in child birth for eating the forbidden fruit, not her period. the only thing i can think of that mentions her period is that she is unclean during this time and that her husband is not to touch her until 7 days after its over.

I do agree because Eve didn't have any periods until then. Unless it says otherwise in the Bible. Besides, why would the Lord make Eve walk around naked and bleeding?

The curse given to Eve was pain in childbirth. A woman's monthly period is a separate issue.(Pardon the pun)

no, eve was told not to eat the fruit and she did. for this god punished her and said that because of this women would bare painful labor pains when having children. it never said anything about the period.

I think that all females animals included have a cycle ,this is just the way we`re made.Women were meant to reproduce from the begining. The pain that we endure in child birth is our curse but also in the end a blessing as we are the ones who keeps mankind alive, remember Jesus was born of a woman.God blessed us too.
