I heard its like $5 an hour
should be like $50
If I had to choose between starving and listening to babies screaming, starvation is the best choice

I've found sitters for as cheap as $5 per hour (8th or 9th grader) all the way up to $15 or so an hour (adult with CPR certification and many years experience). Some factors to consider are: number of kids (more kids more $ per hour--general rule of thumb, add $1 per kid), hours (if overnight it should pay more), pet care, expectation of household cleaning/laundry, etc.
Perks for sitters? The only thing I ever got as a perk when I was a kid was being able to eat whatever i want (within reason)! I suppose if you hire a college kid, a perk could be giving them privilege to do laundry at your house while sitting.

Depends on how young the child is and how much care it needs. An infant would probably be around 10 (diapers, bottles, etc) same price for a toddler. A child around 3 could be 7 an hour because it should go to the bathroom. Also are you charging per child per hour or just per hour?

This will vary, depending where you live, & the clientele.
Ask some of your friends what they usually get.
Or, if you are young, try to ask your parents friends.
Benefits are usually limited to watching TV,
& helping yourself to snacks & soft drinks.
The parent will usually specify, don't take advantage;
like watching pay-per-view, or making phone calls.
