My father served on warships in WW2 -- and his hearing is completely shot because of it.

Modern troops have a better time of it, because they understand the problem now and can take steps.

Bazookas went out in the 1950s kid.

When using light or heavy weapons, we used cotton wool for the ears and later ear plugs.

Some of the Weapons I fired in Service:

9mm Browning Pistol.
9mm Carl Gustaff sub-machine gun.
7.62mm F.N. Self Loading Rifle.
7.62mm General Purpose Machine Gun.
84mm Carl Gustaff Rocket Launcher.
5.56mm Steyer AUG.
.5 Browning Heavy Machine Gun.
