If I had a teenager, I would have no second thoughts about buying them a Chevy Impala. I have owed Chevrolet automobiles all my life and I have had good results with them. (I now have a Chevy Silverado.) I have posted the Chevrolet Impala Crash Tests (2) below and it goes back to the year 2000.

When buying a car of any kind you need to have it checked out by a mechanic to make sure it is in good running condition with no problems that will leave you on the side of the road. (Unless it is your mother or other close relative, do NOT take their word for the car being OK if they say it is safe with no problems make them put it is writing) Also the mileage, while it isn't as important to judge a car by its mileage as it used to be, you want to extra careful if you buy one that has over 100,000 miles on it, depending on the year of course. I just donated a 1995 Buick Regal with 121,000 miles on it and there was nothing wrong with it since it had been maintained with regular oil changes, etc. I wouldn't have had second thoughts about getting in the car and going cross country in it.

As to where it is made, here is that information:
Chevy *The Heartbeat of America*
Chevrolet
(1) Chevrolet is a division of general motors that makes cars and trucks, among other things, with its headquarters in Detroit, Michigan. One of chevrolet’s most popular cars in the United States is the chevy impala.

I LOVE the new impalas... the 07 impalas look great... it's classy! I work at a chevy dealership and we had a black impala with black rims and it looked hott!!! I loved it! I've checked the safety ratings on it and it is a pretty reliable car! Yes, it is american!... I did end up buying a honda though... but the only reason was because of gas mileage and also, the impala i wanted was the super sport and all souped up so it would have been like $39,000 and i'll kinda too broke to afford that!

The Impala's are good cars, however, I feel a teenager needs to not drive something with any larger engine then a 4cyl.

IT IS A SAFE VEHICLE AND SINCE WE ARE TALKING ABOUT A TEENAGER THEN I WOULD SAY YES.

ALSO THE INSURANCE RATES WILL BE SLIGHTLY LOWER WITH THIS VEHICLE.

GOOD LUCK

No chevy is decent for anybody. No chevy is safe. What difference does it make??? OK: it's assembled with parts/components made wherever they were cheaper that day.
