If Islam says Jesus is a prophet(and a true one) and Jesus said He was the messiah, the son of God...then why don't they believe He was the son of God since He, a true prophet, said He was?

I know what Messiah and Christ mean, they mean the annointed one. I am, unlike some of my fellow believers, not ignorant of my faith or it's history.

If I would've meant to say being the Messiah means being the son of God, then I wouldn't have put both in there....now would I?

Pajaro, John 10:36 out of MANY verses have Jesus saying He was the son of God.

Not to mention the whole virgin birth, angel's announcement to Mary...etc.

I posted another question about it....

Islam only follows the Bible to the point where it contradicts the Koran-which is their Holiest book.

The Koran states that Jesus did not die on the cross-at the last minute, a substitute replaced him, and he grew to an old age, finally dying in India.

I don't know which statements of Jesus are accepted as true, but obviously, the Koran establishes Jesus as a prophet-without acknowledging everything he said, according to the Bible.

If you read the Gospel carefully, Jesus never directly said He was the Son of God. He admitted it in court, but only by saying yes to a question. Why he admitted to something that, as far as the Gospel goes, he never did, is beyond me.

He is the Messiah ("anointed one [by God]" in Hebrew) and Islam accepts that. Messiah is not inherently tied to being the Son of God. Cyrus the Great was proclaimed as a Messiah because he allowed the Jews to rebuild the Temple, but nobody ever called him the Son of God.

Jews and Christians believe in Moses, and that he was a prophet, but that he wasn't the son of God. Then why can't Muslims believe that Jesus wasn't the son of God while still believing he is a prophet?

Bismillahi Rahmani Rahim - In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Hello. The flaw in your "flaw" is that you say Jesus, peace be upon him, said he was the son of God, but we have no indication that he ever said such a thing. Therefore, there is no contradiction.

Jesus, peace be upon him, was born in a miraculous way. He was conceived without a father. Shall I tell you whose creation was more miraculous? Adam, the first man. He was created from the soils of the earth with no father or mother, and Eve, who was created from the rib of Adam, had not father or mother either. Yet they are viewed as fully human. This is how we view Jesus.

Jesus is a beloved prophet of Allah. He was the final prophet for the Children of Israel, and when they rejected him, the gentiles heard his message. Unfortunately, Paul, a Jewish Roman citizen, misunderstood the message and infused the nascent montheism with pagan elements of Roman society. Thus the religion that Jesus brought was hijacked and by the time the Council of Nicea came around, the monotheistic Christians were overwhelmed by the trinitarians. This was according to Allah's will and He knew that He would be sending the final Prophet, Muhammad, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him, as a mercy to all mankind, not one particular tribe, to bring about the final revelation and correct the faults that had crept in after Jesus was taken up by Allah. Jesus is the Messiah and he will return to slay the antichrist, and everyone will obey him and there will be no religion accepted other than Islam, which is the same message that he originally brought but which was rejected. And Allah knows best.

I pray that Allah guides you to that which is best in this world and the next. Ameen.

Fi Aman Allah,

Nancy Umm Abdel Hamid

The scenario you mention doesn't reveal a flaw in Islam. It only exposes your wanton knowledge of Islam.

Islam says that Jesus is a prophet.
Islam says that Jesus never claimed to be anything other than a messenger of God (and not God, his son, or anything like that)
Christianity is the only religion that claims Jesus to be anything more than a man.

If you learn to read Greek and study the old text of the Gospels, you will noitce several things.

One, the prophet Essa (i.e, Yoshua bar Yoseph in Hebrew, Jesus in Greek), peace be uopn him, never claims to be the son of God. In fact, he repeatedly denies the same. No Jew of his era would have made such a claim as it would be blasphemy.

Two, the gospels were not written until well after the prophet Essa, peace be upon him, had been taken up into heaven and they were written by persons who had never met him while he was on earth.

Three, the gospels were written in Greek, while the language of the prophet Essa, peace be upon him, was Hebrew and Aramaic. The gospel writers even gave him a Greek name instead of his Jewish name.

Insha'Allah, the gospels were twisted by men seeking power and control over othes and do not accurately convey the message of the prophet, peace be upon him, nor the events of his life.

Please, be at least as studious as this Buddhist. Learn to read Arabic so that you can read and study the Holy Qur'an. Learn to read Hebrew to study the Torah, psalms and prophetic writings. Learn Greek so that you may study the New Testament. Study history, anthropology, sociology, etc,. of the time of the prophets, peace be upon them all. Open your eyes, heart and mind and learn to respect all others and not mock them or attempt to.

We must all live together on this planet. Let us do so in peace, mindfulness and kindness.

May it all be well with you.

perhaps they think that jesus never actually said that, but that it was a doctrine added by other people, and not anything that Jesus actually said.

I think the big flaw in Islam is that its built on top of Christianity.

the guy in the video on my most recent starred question gave me some insight on how much islam really depends on Christianity. its really quite interesting.

Long question but very little answer...........

MESSIAH DOES NOT mean " SON OF GOD ", in any language.

It simply means the "HEALER", the "SAVIOR".

Therefore I am afraid you are on the wrong track, buddy.

Moreover there is no mention of Jesus being son of God in any book published 600 years earlier. This is an addition to the Gospels by the Church and the Bible got corrupted systematically.............

" We do not know of any book in the whole world less authenticated as to date, authers' names or tradition than our own christian Bible "--[ Isis Unveiled by Blavatsky, vol. II, p-277 ]

Plz make your allegations more "FLAWLESS"...........

we muslim believe that the Jesus (Isa a.s) is a prophet of Allah who was sent to the jews as a mercy from Him....but ofcourse israelis rejected Jesus.....and he was not crucifixed like what is written in bible.....a follower of him who later betrayed him made by God to look like him and got crucifixed instead of jesus....then Allah took him and put him in heaven....he will come down to earth as a sign of qiamah (the end of the day, world will be destroyed and everybody will die) and help the muslims to destroy chrisitianity and all sort of evil......He is just a man and not a son of God like the christian said....he (jesus) is free from christianity.................
