Yep! I believe you are right! Besides, when we are walking close to God, it shows! If we are submitted to His will and the move of the Holy Spirit, even the coldest of hearts can see that there is something different! That something Is, God! Allowing His light to shine forth so that others may see!

Yes indeed. When I accepted Christ in 1997 my hunger for the Word of God became instant but it took the Holy Spirit to remove cursing in my mouth for 1 1/2 year.

In a house that I grew up, my parents and so with my brothers and sisters, cursing is just same as saying hello.

It was a big struggle, and thank the Lord he made me a victor over that.

True Christians believe this:

Php 2:14 Do all things without murmurings and disputings.

Col 3:8 But now put ye also away all these; anger, wrath, malice, railing, shameful speaking out of your mouth:
Col 3:9 lie not one to another; seeing that ye have put off the old man with his doings,
Col 3:10 and have put on the new man, which is being renewed unto knowledge after the image of him that created him

I do not use expletives and I am an Atheist.

As far as the filthy tongue, I have heard many hateful things come out of the mouths of fundamentalist Christians; would that the Holy Spirit extend his cleaning chores to that, as well.

Absolutely!!

Yes, when God's Holy Spirit indwells man's heart, and is well grounded in His Word, then you are well equipped to recognize and avoid Satan's snare!!

He says to 'Put on the Whole armor of God.'

LIke this: 'Do not be deceived: "Evil company corrupts good habits." Awake to righteousness, and do not sin; for some do not have the knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame.'

God bless!!

That depends on the individual. I have known Christians who have had a very hard time with swearing after their conversion. Everyone's different. I never swear and am very conscience of what I say and how I speak. It is a part of my Spiritual beliefs. But I am not Christian----Blessings!

You obviously have never known an adult convert who formerly cursed. The holy spirit only reminds the person to reverse their habitual language. It still is a huge effort on anyone's part to change their speech if they think they need to. Habits die hard. You give the holy spirit WAY too much credit on this one.

So not using profanity would mark me as a christian to you?

Sadly we have some lovely parting gifts for you.. I learned long ago that it is more intelligent and far easier to convey detailed information using a varied and wide vocabulary. Using profanity tends to limit vocabulary so I use it only on very rare occasions when I feel the emphasis of the profanity is warrented..

I also know christians who utter profanity every other word..

Your test is flawed... Maybe you should evaluate your test and see where the flaws are..

Not necessarily. I have seen many christians who don't cuss or behave badly, BUT I wouldn't turn my back OR my finances over to them if my life depended on it. Being the fool I am, I "trusted" in not just one but "several" people who called themselves christian only to be wiped out financially. (over $300,000) I don't like ANYONE who puts on a ACT only to do wrong and have found this trait to be very common amongst CHRISTIANS.........

I TRUST someone who is up FRONT, cussing, drinking WHATEVER. At least there I can SEE what the person is like......REAL.
