If not how long will it be good if left out at room temperature with the cork back in it?

Do not refrigerate red wine, it will taste awful. Red wine should be kept cool (55-60 degrees) and away from light.

Once open, you can keep the wine for a couple of days before it starts to taste stale. There are some simple rubber corks with a pump called Vacuvin that when used correctly, will extend your open wines about 1 week.

I could repeat the millions of things that have been said already about storage of opened wine, but that would just be redundant. Here's what they missed: Although wine should never be expected to have the same flavor as it did before being recorked, you need to look at the varietal your are drinking. For instance, if you were speaking of a chianti or zinfandel, you would be losing alot of that dry, oaky flavor that makes it that type of wine. In your case, you have a pinot noir, the lightest of the red wine varietals. You have an aromatic, fruity wine that will begin to lose it's sweetness. My suggestion to you is if you absolutly cannot finish a bottle of wine in one sitting (not by yourself, just if you have leftover), the best thing to do is bite the bullet and use it for a spicy arriabita tomato sauce or beef stew the next night.

You don't have to, but I wouldn't leave even corked red wine out of the fridge over night. The things that makes wine go bad are oxygen, light, and heat.

If you vacuum seal the bottle (can usually get in a good wine section at your local super market) and put it into a dark cool pantry, it should last a couple days.

Otherwise, vinegar!

No, no, no, no, no!! NEVER refrigerate red wine. Red wine is to be taken at room temperature, never never cold. White wine can be drunk cold, but not the red.

When you hold a glass of red wine, you hold it with your hand cupping the bowl of the glass (to further warm the liquid), and when holding a glass of white wine, hold the stem so as not to warm the wine.

As for how long it will last....a good wine will last weeks and weeks on your pantry shelf...just make sure the cork fits tightly and is replaced when you store it away.

Hope this helps.

Nope....not unless you'd like too.

It does help make it last a lil'longer.

*Left out in room Temp. it usually starts to taste a lil'bitter with in a week 1/2 - it also depends on the type of wine that it is more expensive wines usually use better corks.

Corks after a while of not being compress begin to expand letting air through which then begins the process of the wine "going bad" ....although i must admit sometimes i like the wine even if it's been opened and then corked again w/in like a 2-3week period.

I use it to cook. i dunno. it helps with the flavors.

are you guys kidding ,,im not trying to be an A?? but think about it for a few seconds, the earliest production so far discovered having occurred c. 6000 BC in Georgia "no fridge's" so im guessing that left over wine was left at room temp pretty much always
the only thing you have to remember about handling red wines is that the more oxygen it gets the worse it will taste ..spend 20 bucks on a good vacuum pump cork and leave it on any shelf for as long as you want

A good way to avoid this problem is to buy box wine that comes out through a tap. You don't have to worry about oxygen coming in contact with wine like it does with bottles.

Don't buy the cheap stuff like Franzia if you go this route. I recommend 3 liter reds like shiraz from Hardy's or Black Box's cabernet sauvignon.

I'm not a wine expert but I keep mine in the refrigerator because I think it will last longer and I like it cold and refreshing. One bottle lasts me a long time.
