I've called Davids Bridal about two weeks ago and they haven't gotten back. I'm going to ask around for another place but was curious of what to expect. Thanks.

there is no set price. It depend on the detials of the dress specifically as to how much work it will take. Extra layers, beading, it's all gonna raise the price. It's based on how many hours the seamstress thinks they will need.

Remember, you can always scale a dress DOWN but it's very difficult to size a dress UP.

If you didn't buy your dress from DB then they won't do the alterations ... they have a liability in case they do something wrong to the dress and they don't want to buy you another one. You need to find a seamstress in your area - usually any dry cleaner will have one on the premises. They will take you in for a fitting and then make all alterations. It should only take a week at the most, but it depends on where you go. The cost will depend on the type of fabric, if there is beading and the intricacy of the design. The more difficult the design is to match, the more expensive it will be. I would plan for between 200-600 for the fix.

What you need are gusset inserts of the fabric of the dress sewn in on the side seams of the bodice (top) of your wedding dress. If you don't have the same fabric, maybe some lace gussets would be good. I cannot tell because I cannot see the dress, Any good dressmaker will give you ideas and do this for you. Just tell her the bust is too tight and you need it let out..there may be enough fabric seams but if not, the gussets are the way to go. I heard David's Bridal alteration department are terrible, and they do not want to do extensive alterations for brides...Find another dressmaker and she will fix it for you. Good Luck

it is what I did for my gown yet there's a pair issues you're able to do till now you purchase. First, pass to a bridal salon and attempt on the gown in guy or woman to verify that's the dream gown you rather need. next, print out p.c.. of the gown on line, and of you interior the gown from the salon (in case you like) and take it to a tailor with the cloth suggestion (what form of fabric) to get his/her opinion. My tailor advised me that no longer all clothing look good altered previous a pair sizes, yet some will look nice after transformations because of the variety and development. this is the difficulty, maximum folk could get transformations on their clothing anyhow, and you will possibly no longer spend plenty greater advantageous than you may. i became advised that till I magically have been given a suited fit, i could nevertheless have had to have mine taken in on the facets so it wasn't from now on costly. whilst you're no longer a tall lady, you will could have it altered, and that expenditures an identical in spite of the dimensions. additionally, identifying to purchase on line could be risky even though it relies upon on who you purchase from. If that's from ebay, look on the comments that guy or woman has gained and examine out their return coverage in case the gown isn't in good challenge. If that's from somebody else, be cautious which you have thoughts for a reimbursement if it is not what the employer says it rather is. yet i think of it rather is an incredible theory if the sale on line is plenty greater reasonably-priced. I rather have a alluring $1800 gown that purely fee me $450 and transformations have been an identical cost. desire this facilitates!

It probably depends on what area you are in and where you go.

I have had formal dresses taken in and the seamstress/tailor I use charges $25 for each thing she has to do. (hem, bodice etc.)

I would check around for a reputable tailor in your area, Davids is more expensive in my experience. If you use a dry cleaner, check with them they often know goo tailors in the area!

Good luck!
