According to one answer to this question that is why you are atheist.

" The latter. I believe "atheists" are really believers that are too arrogant to acknowledge that someone bigger than themselves actually has control over their lives. It gives them a reason to say "I don't believe in a God, therefore, I'm not responsible to anyone for any wrong doing that I do." That is a crock and they know it. "

After you stop laughing would you like to set the record straight?

Will it matter what you say? Will she choose to believe what she chooses no matter how idiotic it is?

Obviously, I meant 'record' in the question. I can't type tonight.

I just want to go to Hell, personally. I don't have the guts to kill anyone, and every time I steal anything I get caught. I tried cheating on my wife... but found out later that the same woman I slept with, my wife was also sleeping with in order to cheat on me! I tried to eat meat on Friday (back before people stopped worrying about this one), but I burned it--and who can eat burned meat? I went to a gay bar once and tried picking up on the other guys there... no takers--only givers, and I don't swing that way. I even tried fantasizing about my neighbor's wife... but she's just plain ugly! Masturbating isn't the answer I'm looking for, either, since my chemo treatments have left me sterile and I HAVE no seed to spill to the ground.

So I became an Atheist! It just seemed to be the only door left open for me!

That is indeed, as she says, "a crock".. a huge streaming crock of it.

For the record (and no, it won't matter what we say, but what the hell):

I am not a believer in disguise. I have no belief in any god. Not the God of Christianity, Judaism, Islam, nor the gods of the Greeks, nor any other god you can imagine. I think all gods are man-made to compensate for the fear of the unknown and death.

I am not an atheist because I don't want to be responsible to anyone. I am responsible to lots of someones. Me, being the most important. I must live with the knowledge and the consequences of my actions, after all. I am responsible to my husband, my children, my friends and family, my country, and the world.

I am not an atheist because I am arrogant. Far from it. I think it is more arrogant to insist that humans were created special as the children of a deity, and that they have been granted "eternal life'. I have seen first-hand the egotistic attitudes that come from a belief that one is "saved." Wouldn't that fit the definition of arrogance?. I am quite humble (I hope!); I do not believe I am "special", nor do I believe I have any more rights to eternity than does my dog. I am just one person among billions, on a planet among trillions.

No. An atheist do not believe in a god because no one in this planet or anywhere else in that matter have given an atheist a concrete, credible evidence for an atheist to believe that your "god" exist.

It's not a matter of responsibility. An atheist still obeys the law of his country so an atheist is not too arrogant on things said to be bigger than himself. State laws are bigger...as they say, "No One is Above the Law"

Riiiight. When I do something wrong I take full responsibility for it. Just because you believe in God doesn't mean you're going to take responsibility for everything you do wrong. And we don't believe in God because there is no evidence he exists and the whole religion is totally flawed and illogical. You're question is very stupid and illogical, how old are you anyway? 10? And besides why is some Christians blame things saying it was the will of God? You call that taking responsibility?

Actions have consequences, no matter what we believe. Atheists deny the existence of God because there's no real evidence that he exists. Many are intelligent people from Christian upbringings and know the Bible. They realized that's it's "smoke and mirrors" and they've had enough. Otherwise they are real people like you.

Believers sit around and talk about the minutia of sins and sinning, and this verse and that verse. It's a waste of time and an insult to one's intelligence. We just let it go!

No. I'm an atheist because I've read the Bible, and many books for and against believing in God. I've carefully examined the case for believing, and concluded there is no good evidence for a God, and plenty of good reasons not to believe in God.

I saw that one; and I don't know about you, Gorgeous, but I've heard this so many times that I don't even laugh at it any more.

If it were true that atheists only want to throw off the shackles of morality; and if atheists are, say, ten percent of the population; then why aren't they rampaging through the streets at this moment? Could the cops keep up with a crime wave of that magnitude? Somehow I doubt it.

But don't worry about her -- nothing we say will make any impact on that belief-shell she's built around herself.

She will choose to believe what she will and that is her choice no matter how uninformed it is.

As an atheist I take greater responsibilities for my actions so I weigh my decisions very carefully. I know that my actions affect those around me and when I screw up I don't turn to something that isn't there to fix it. I admit I made a mistake, pull myself up and right the wrongs. How is that irresponsible?

It has always been my view that my atheistic beliefs make ME and ME alone responsible for my behavior. I am a human, I experience guilt and regret, but I have no god or religion to assuage these feelings. I have to be on my best behavior all the time for this reason and because I have decided it is important to me. Also, there is wisdom in the golden rule and you don't need a god to see that.

Very funny indeed. It is so strange how some christians think of atheists.

In fact, it is exactly 180 degrees around. It is precisely because I want to take responsibility for my actions that I do not believe in any deity. I determine my future, and my actions and inactions. I need no god to tell me how to behave. I need no god to threaten me with hell or reward me with promises of heaven.

It is the religious person who require a god or gods to tell them how to behave. Unfortunately for the person who thinks as they do about atheists, their god has done them a disservice.
