I Live on Porage, Michigan and I watch FRCLive.tv, it has great music, but the best of all is the preacher... is after a great vision to help people to reach their maximum potential. I was living in FL and when I moved to Porage, Michigan, I was unable to find a contemporary church, like FRC, so I stat watching the services on the Internet, and it feels so real, so live... I can make community with others using the chat room... it is different!

I attend an online church (see my profile for link)...in fact, the services just ended a few minutes ago. I also attend live services (same church) so I get the best of both worlds.
One big benefit of online church is that you can talk in church and discuss what you're hearing with others without disturbing other worshippers. We have an "online campus" pastor and he's in the chat room during services so when I have a question about something I hear, I don't have to wait until later to ask it! People that don't want to chat have the option of leaving the chat room while the service is running and then coming in later.
Our online campus is new but it is already quite similar to an "on-campus" worship experience. We have small group fellowship and bible studies where we can meet and fellowship with other believers, request prayer and pray for others, and discuss spiritual issues. We have online service opportunities, and yes, we have an online giving option for those that want to contribute to the church (certainly less intrusive than the old method of passing the plate..which they don't do at the physical services either). We get to see the same messages that everyone else sees.

I see other have covered the beliefs, so I'll tell you about mass. There are three main parts to the mass. 1. The liturgy (the word of God) 2. The consecration (turning the bread and wine into the body and blood of Christ) 3. Communion (partaking in the body and blood of Christ) Mass usually lasts about an hour, maybe a little longer depending on the particularities of a Parish. You are "required" to be there for all three parts (like don't come in after the Gospel, or get up and leave before communion). Generally the consecration is considered the most important part, like you don't want to get up and go to the bathroom at that point. Mass is not only a coming together in celebration of God, but also serves as a weekly reminder of our beliefs.

Seems odd to me. Of course, it's a very rare occasion when I go to church anyway (*wink*), but I thought the point was to interact with other people in a friendly environment. If I just want to learn about the Bible I can read it myself at home or go to an independent Bible study, after all.
Admittedly, though, the last few "real" services I went to were horribly lame. I recall lousy PowerPoint presentations, and it seemed that 80% of the service was spent singing terribly written "God loves me and I love Him" songs. There wasn't any real meat to it. Maybe the broadcast version is actually educational in some way.

This forum is closer to Church than almost any "real" Church. The concept of Church is the body of believers who have a common identity known as the "Bride of Christ" for they should be at one with the teachings of Christ. In early Churches, which were frequently caves or open spaces, the people spoke with one another and shared testimonies. The sharing was personal, intimate, and universal. Television is a one-way experience and defiantly NOT an ideal environment for communion.

Bring ye all the tithes into the
storehouse, that there may be meat in my house, and prove me now here-with,saith the Lord of hosts,if I will not open you the windows
of heaven,and pour you out a blessing,that
there shall not be room enough to receive it.
Malachi 3:18
God says to bring. To me,this means to go to
his house. The church house.where the church
meets. This is for Christians though, not the lost
people of the world.

Of course but its not the same as actual gathering. Christians gather to either help or be helped by other Christians
Hbr 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some [is]; but exhorting [one another]: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

Hi, Arturo:
God calls the Sabbath a Holy Convocation: Leviticus 23:3 "Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day [is] the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work [therein]: it [is] the sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings."
Although watching religious programs and listening to religious music is all part of the Christian walk, God expects you to lay aside the world and devote a complete day to Him, and that word "convocation" means it is a holy gathering.
My wife and I jimmied our t.v. so it only gets a Christian channel. I get the news on the Internet. Yes, we are blessed 7 days a week, and especially on the day He blessed and sanctified.
Did you know that the Bible predicted who would "think to" change God's Sabbath to Sunday? The culprit is revealed in a Bible code at http://abiblecode.tripod.com
Shalom, peace in Jesus, Ben Yeshua

Through this medium, are you able to have fellowship with a fellow believer? Are you able to exhort, lift up, pray for or listen to a brother or sister in Christ? Are you able to worship, without distractions, the only one worthy of worship? I would say no. Then it is nothing more than watching a tv show.
