Example being in the 1980's there wasn't one dominant force in the OS industry, like it is now with Microsoft. My main question is will it ever go back to being where a company like Microsoft does not own 89% of the OS Market? More of the percentage of 25% maybe while another handful of companies own at least 10% if not more.

no becuase everyone knows about microsoft and microsoft will always do whatever it takes to get the most customers (easy to use, fancy GUI, all that other annoying stuff people like)

No because Microsoft is so much better than everyone else. There is a reason apple has less than 5% of the world's computer users -- they're selling somethign you can get for free on the PC -- Linux!

MacOSX is just a cheap (and bad) hack of *nix

Yes, there will.

Vista was a big mistake.

Linux is getting bigger, even Dell is preloading some systems with Linux.

FreeBSD and ReactOS are getting good, too.

And btw, it's the users choice of OS, not Microsoft.
