because the literally eat drink and sleep their religion so its all they know. My ex-was one and when you are involved with the church every single waking hour except for when you work you get brain washed. Like any other cult - not religion - any organization who cuts you off from everyone except those in that organization and engulfs your whole life into that organization - it's a cult - that not religion!

Jesus commanded at Matt 24:14 "This good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth, for a witness to all nations and then the end would come."
Jehovah's Witnesses are the only ones who are fulfilling this prophecy of preaching worldwide about God's Kingdom.
We follow Jesus example and that of his apostles of going door to door and house to house or were ever people are.
Acts 20: 20 "...from teaching you publicly and from house to house."
Acts 5:42 "And every day in the temple and from house to house they continued without letup teaching and declaring the good news about the Christ, Jesus."
Matt. 10: 12-14 "When you enter into the house, greet the household; and if the house is deserving, let the peace you wish it come upon it; but if it is not deserving, let the peace from you return upon you. Wherever anyone does not take you in or listen to your words, on going out of that house or that city shake the dust off your feet."
Our purpose is not to "convert", but to find those who want to learn more about the promises of god's kingdom. The good news about the kingdom, by means of Jesus ransom we have a true hope of being part of that kingdom.

A common misconception is that Jehovah's Witnesses go from door-to-door because they feel it is their duty to "recruit" a householder, or get him to "convert". In fact, Jehovah's Witnesses would go from door-to-door even if there were no hope that anyone would change their religion, or even if no one would listen to them!
That is because Jesus Christ specifically assigned the house-to-house ministry to the Christian congregation, with no regard for specific results.
(Luke 10:1,2) After these things the Lord designated seventy others and sent them forth by twos in advance of him into every city and place to which he himself was going to come. 2 Then he began to say to them: “The harvest, indeed, is great, but the workers are few. Therefore beg the Master of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest.
Jehovah's Witnesses are trained to direct attention to the bible, and move on when their message is unwanted. Since each congregation in the United States tries to call at every home in its territory at least twice each year, there is strong motivation for them to move on where little interest is shown. Also, the Scriptures help the Witnesses to expect little interest from most:
(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching ...and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories. You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.

SOOOOOOOOO many wrong answers on here, we don't have to work to get into Heaven as we believe as the Bible says, only 144,000 go from the earth to Heaven. The rest of us live here on earth as God first planned it to be. He's never changed that.
We go door to door as that is what Jesus himself did. He also told his followers to go and preach to the entire inhabited earth....... and then the end will come.
I had many questions in the religion I was born into. I was in my 30's when a Witness came to my door and I asked her the same questions that my minister couldn't answer. The sister at my door showed me where to find them. In my Bible all the time and my minister didn't know it. I was not pushed into being a Witness. I studied for 2 years and on my own asked to be baptized. At all times I had, and still have, the right to be or not to be one of Jehovah's Witnesses. I chose to be one.

I know a storm is coming, I saw the signs, heard the warning go out. This storm is going to be the biggest thing we've ever seen. Those caught unawares in this storm could very likely loose their life. Yet, there is a way to survive this storm. Should I go to my neighbors to tell them about it, or not? Sure, they have the option of slamming the door on me, but at least I've tried to warm them. Wouldn't you?
14 Of what benefit is it, my brothers, if a certain one says he has faith but he does not have works? That faith cannot save him, can it? 15 If a brother or a sister is in a naked state and lacking the food sufficient for the day, 16 yet a certain one of YOU says to them: “Go in peace, keep warm and well fed,” but YOU do not give them the necessities for [their] body, of what benefit is it? 17 Thus, too, faith, if it does not have works, is dead in itself.
James 2:18 Nevertheless, a certain one will say: “You have faith, and I have works. Show me your faith apart from the works, and I shall show you my faith by my works.” 19 You believe there is one God, do you? You are doing quite well. And yet the demons believe and shudder. 20 But do you care to know, O empty man, that faith apart from works is inactive? 21 Was not Abraham our father declared righteous by works after he had offered up Isaac his son upon the altar? 22 You behold that [his] faith worked along with his works and by [his] works [his] faith was perfected, 23 and the scripture was fulfilled which says: “Abraham put faith in Jehovah, and it was counted to him as righteousness,” and he came to be called “Jehovah’s friend.”
24 YOU see that a man is to be declared righteous by works, and not by faith alone.
Matt. 24:38 For as they were in those days before the flood, eating and drinking, men marrying and women being given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark; 39 and they took no note until the flood came and swept them all away

Just as Suzy said, there are sooooooooooooo many falsehoods listed here concerning Jehovah's Witnesses and our beliefs!!
Before people go saying negative things about " what j.w.'s believe ", they really should get there information straight!
It is so sad that people speak so harshly about people that are trying to encourage bible reading and understanding of His Word. If you don't care about the bible, speak up! We certainly don't want to spend time talking if we would be wasting our breath.
to answer your question, Martians wife, we don't "push " our religion. We are doing the best we can to imitate 1st century Christians ( who went "house to house" ) see Acts 20 : 20
Also , we are doing the last command of Jesus Christ- read Matthew 28 : 19,20
if you actually read these scriptures, you will see that we ARE doing what is commanded

This questioner curiously feels extra nicely-reported than Christ Jesus and the Apostles: (Matthew 10:5-14) those twelve Jesus sent forth, giving them those orders: “do no longer flow off into the line of the international locations... instead, flow constantly to the lost sheep of the residing house of Israel. As you flow, carry forth, asserting, ‘the dominion of the heavens has drawn close to.’ ...once you're coming into into the residing house, greet the better half and young ones; and if the home is deserving, enable the peace you like it come across it; yet while that isn't any longer deserving, enable the peace from you come across you. anyplace anybody would not take you in or pay attention on your words, on going out of that residing house or that city shake the dirt off your ft. (Acts 20:20) i did no longer carry back from telling you any of the failings that have been rewarding nor from coaching you publicly and from residing house to residing house. (Acts 5:40 two) From residing house to residing house they persisted devoid of letup coaching and protecting the stable information with regard to the Christ, Jesus somewhat than being a private determination between Jehovah's Witnesses, actual all Christians have been commanded to objective and unfold the stable information: (Matthew 28:19,20) flow subsequently and make disciples of folk of all the international locations, baptizing them in the call of the father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, coaching them to video reveal all the failings I even have commanded you

Did we say that that was our purpose? That is just what you assume. We will never do such a thing. We are given free will by Jehovah God and it belongs to no man to change that. What we do is try to help people understand the bible better and also come to an accurate knowledge of the scriptures. if you have any contribution to our conversation, we are ready to accept it.

The simple answer Jesus went door to door. He preached the word to everyone. Since Jehovah's Witnesses are taught to be immitators of Christ they also practice door to door ministry. That's also in part why they are called Jehovah's witnesses, Jehovah is God almighty so therefore they are his witnesses and they spread his word througout the world. They are not trying to force their beliefs on anyone. They are simply trying to spread their beliefs to anyone interested. God does not want you to serve him out of obligation, he wants you to serve him because you love him and because it is in your heart to do so. Like wise Jehovah's witnesses are there to preach to those who are willing to listen, if you are not interested they're not going to try and kidnap you and brain wash you. They keep it moving to the next door. Bottom line They believe that God wants eveyone to have the chance to know of him, believe it or not there are some people out there who know absolutely nothing about JWs. and so that is why they preach door to door, to give everyone a fair chance to know of Jehovah.

According to the Jehovah's Witness website, Jehovah's Witnesses go door to door because it is the "best-known way" for them to find those who are distressed, brokenhearted, meek, in mourning, etc. This article from the Jehovah's Witnesses Official Web Site gives further details about the ways Witnesses 'share good news'. http://www.watchtower.org/e/jt/index.htm?article=article_07.htm

we do not push our religion on anyone. we are only doing what Jesus Christ commanded us to do at Matthew 28 verse 19 and 20. someone said we are getting paid, we are not getting paid any money. we do it because we love Jehovah and his son Jesus Christ. also we are not doing this to get a free pass to heaven. if you read your bible, it tells you that the meek shall inherit the earth. we will gain what Adam and Eve lost, a paradise earth. not like the earth is today
