My sister laughs quietly but she does it randomly and no one is saying anything to her. She doesn't talk to herself, and she hides herself from others. All she does is read books and stay in the house but that's about it. She does get angry when someone asks her to do some chore though.

She closes her door constantly, therefore she doesn't want contact from the outside world, and she would rather stay home (it seems) then go off to some place.

What causes sudden laughing?? Funny jokes! lol, jk

maybe she's just an optimistic person! People dont always need something to make them laugh...heck, i'm the type of girl that will laugh in dead silence about something that happened the week before. Don't worry about it, but you may want to get her in some clubs or groups so she can meet new people!

Laughter errupts as a person is faced with an unexpected situation.

When a person is standing in the room, often their mind is occupied with thoughts of elsewhere - thinking of her characters in the books she reads, and such.

On occasion a person's emotions get a little screwy. When experiencing fear, for example, rather than cry a person may laugh. I have seen it happen when a person is under extreme stress.

wow she's like my twin!! that's all i do (reading that is) and if someonea asks me to do something i just get cranky and ignore them. but anways, whenever i laugh suddenly (which i do, trust me, especially in the car hahaha!) it's because i remember something funny that happened a while back or i remember a joke or maybe i am daydreaming!! it's not a bad thing, she's just easily entertained by herself. nothing major. :]

Omg! She's just like me! Well, I start laughing randomly because I'm thinking of something really really funny. You know... just to cheer me up.

Talk to your folks and tell them that your sister is ill. Her symptoms point to depression and may include agoraphobia, cutting, drugs, or an eating disorder.
