A Catholic Charismatic parish (I am in one) is, first of all, fully Catholic. Therefore they do everything that other Catholic parishes do. However, in addition there is a strong emphasis on following the leadings of the Holy Spirit in our personal lives; communal prayer in addition to the central act of communal worship, the Mass (prayer meetings and such); and exercise of the charismatic gifts or charisms of the Holy Spirit as described in the Bible.
Charismatic parishes are also among the most traditional Catholic parishes. It is in these parishes that you will find First Friday devotions, communal rosary, benediction and perpetual adoration of the Most Holy Eucharist, Holy Name Society, etc. However, such parishes are not "traditional" in the sense of requiring the Latin Mass and trying to live pre-Vatican II Catholicism.

The term Charismatic circulation describes the adoption (circa 1960 onwards for Protestants, 1967 onwards for Roman Catholics) of specific ideals well-known of those held by way of Pentecostal Christians by way of those in the historic denominations. The term "charismatic" became first coined by way of Harald Bredesen, a Lutheran minister, in 1962, to describe what became occurring at that think approximately the older church homes. confronted with the term "neo-Pentecostal," he mentioned "We desire the identify 'the charismatic renewal in the historic church homes.'" The genesis of the Charismatic circulation besides the undeniable fact that is variously attributed to Father Dennis Bennett, an Episcopal priest, in 1960. His e book 9 O'Clock in the Morning provides a private account of this era.

A more charismatic Catholic Mass involves more modern songs. A more involved clergy/parishioner dialog. Sometimes it'll even have a prophetic message or the interpretation of someone who's spoke in tongues.

They have Mass, and the sacraments. They are believing Catholics. They do not believe in the bible alone as the rule of faith.
Also, they usually do not get into the dramatic overshow of "slain in the spirit."
