I've heard from different sources that Pantene products are bad for your hair. Is this really true? Because I use Pantene shampoo/conditioner right now and love it. So should I stop using it? Thanks!

If you love it don't stop using it. I'm a stylist and know for a fact that Pantene has wax in it. This makes the hair look shiny, but it builds up on the hair and prevents the conditioner from penetrating. I would suggest using a clarifying shampoo and deep moisturizer once a week if you continue to use it to prevent your hair from becoming dry. The best ones are Redken Cleansing Cream and Redken AllSoft Heavy Cream. But...if you can afford to buy these, I would go ahead and just get a good shampoo and conditioner to use daily. Try Redken Clear Moisture shampoo and conditioner. You can use these daily and they add moisture to the hair without weighing it down. I recommend all my clients to use a good deep conditioner once a week regardless of their hair type. You can try the Heavy Cream once a week, or you could use Redken Extreme Deep Fuel if you need a reconstructor.

i was just about the post exactly the same question so thank you charlotte! im doing the pantene 10 day challenge and im currently on day 3 my hair is smoother sleeker and easier to manage, the only downside is i have a slightly itchy scalp. when i told people i was going to do the 10 day challenge i had lots of people trying to put me off, i know that too many silicone's can build up on your hair and make it dull and lifeless, but im also hearing of horror stories off you cant dye or perm your hair after using pantene due to too much silicone on the hair it wont be able to penetrate the hair shaft!

I don't know if they still do it, but back when it started, pantene used some form of synthesised plastic in their shampoos to coat the hair and make it look glossy. This is bad for the hair because it means that it isn't nourished properly and can damage it if prolonged use occurs. This was the story anyway. I believe that it was true, but who knows what with urban legends etc.

Several beauticians have told me that using Pantene will cause a perm to fade faster. That is the only bad thing I have ever heard about pantene--that it is not good for permed hair.

I dunno. I guess it's different for a lot of people. Like when I used pantene, it gave me so much dandruff, and I never had them before, well at least not that visible.. But anyway, my curly hair became straighter before I knew it, and it was pretty frustrating. If you like it, use it, but if there are any problems, then you should stop. I use Herbal Essences now

It actully depends on what person's type of hair. I tried Pantene once, it didn't suited me. If it works for you, then keep using it. For most people it isn't that bad!

I use it and it has done wonders for my hair before using it my hair was dry and broken and bad and now its smooth shiny and really healthy. Its the only thing that works for my hair because i have oily hair and it keeps the oil away. I use the sleek and smooth. I LOVE IT.

do you like it and have you ever suffered any adverse affects from use. perhaps ask them to point you to documentation supporting their claims.
i like the clear shampoo, but have never used conditioner. . . as it seems to defeat the purpose of washing my hair in the first place.
and stay away from the blow dryer also

It is not bad for your hair at all. It just contains silicone so it kindof weighs it down
